Vorpx vs. Vireiro vs. TriDef Which one do you prefer?

I know this has probably been discussed before, but I feel like that
discussion was quite a while ago and since new games and sdks came out
in the meantime, I want you guys, who already got their CV1, share your
experiences with the different programs.

What are tho pro's and con's of each and which one would you recommend and why?

Vorpx easily wins.

This could be very useful.  Never used any of them.  @lovethis - what are your reasons?

andyring - The fact it works for a lot of games that don't have VR support. I'm not really sure about Vireiro, but I dont think TriDef supports the Rift anymore. You have to tinker with Vorpx on some games, but I really like it. Can make you feel a little more sick then usual if you not used to it, but that's VR for you.

Vireio recently released a new version that works with the new runtime (1.3 last I checked), but it only works with Fallout 4, and not very well for me (I couldn't get it to run without awful tracking judder). Previously on the DK2, I used it with Skyrim, and it worked pretty well.

Vorpx is probably the best in terms of lots of games being supported, but you have to buy it. (A little under $50, so less than a AAA game.) Apparently, for many games it cheats the 3D using what they call a Z-buffer technique rather than doing true stereoscopic rendering, the trade-off being better performance. I haven't looked into it enough to know how good a solution it is.

Hi Guys !

Please note that Vireio v4 is still Alpha and in a very early stage. The first game (FO4) runs fine on both my home systems (AMD r9 390, Nv gtx 970) on Oculus, OSVR.

Problem is that this is not the case for other PCs, we work on it.

OK thanks lovethis.  It sounded like you had used all of them and vorpx was a clear winner.

There are a few different areas of interest here - quality of experience, how well it converts a 2d game.  Amount of games that work with it.  Ease of use.

Ease of use i'm not too worried about but some will be.  It's a bonus, of course.

Yeah, from what I understand, the downside of Vireio is that I don't have any games I can run it with at the moment. It does seem like it may be a better option for FO4 than VorpX, once it's ready for prime time.

I've only use VorpX so far. Mostly in Skyrim, where I've got it working pretty well now. Skyrim in VR beats any roomscale game I've played.

Hi Denis! I went back and tried again when I got my CV1, hoping that my tracking issue was DK2-related, but I had the same problem. I'm on an SSD with a GTX 980 now, but I'll try again when I get my GTX 1080--maybe I can brute-force it with enough GPU muscle.

Anyway, you guys are doing great work--keep it up!
