Vorpx vs. Vireiro vs. TriDef Which one do you prefer?

I know this has probably been discussed before, but I feel like that
discussion was quite a while ago and since new games and sdks came out
in the meantime, I want you guys, who already got their CV1, share your
experiences with the different programs.

What are tho pro's and con's of each and which one would you recommend and why?

Is there anyone who tried all three and could make a short pro/con list?

The big con for VorpX is the DRM. Buy it, install it, generate a code, email the code to the developer, get a code emailed back to activate it. Only took a few minutes for me, but others have complained that they lost the original installer and code, and then took a while to get a replacement when they wanted to install it on a new machine.

VorpX's "Theater room" is setup for a virtual desktop, that once you are there, almost any game you run goes right into the 3D mode. I really like that, because some games have had difficulty (from steam) in the past working correctly with VorpX (Contagion). Any game that doesn't have 3D support it gives you the ability to play 2D with depth, but VorpX and Left4Dead 2 is SO MUCH FUN! It's just a whole new experience when you are at eye level with the other characters and a horde of zombies are coming at you. (so good)

Earlier builds of VorpX were giving my friends issues, then after an update it started working better than ever.

I will agree the biggest con is definitely the inability to uninstall and re-install on another machine. I've had to buy it like 3 times. (Note this was for 3 different builds of the same machine) I just wish there were an easier way of doing it. My advice to anyone buying it, WAIT until you have the build you need/want before buying it. I remember seeing a reddit post from the creator of VorpX that said the key could be used on 2 installs (computers), but I'm not sure that is still the case.

Ooh, Left For Dead. I haven't tried that in VorpX yet.

Probably buying VorpX this weekend (or today at work so I can have time to get the key lol).  So for FPS games (like L4D2) it will mimic head-tracking to the mouse?  And then provide depth of field for the assets?

As far as I know Tridef support is dead for the rift. I paid 40 pounds for it and gave up after over a year of them ignoring any posts for updates on their forum. It was only ever implemented with experimental support. Unless I have missed something recently do not buy it. Really a shame as it was good when it worked.

Vorpx however has always had excellent support and is continuously updated.

I have not used Vireiro for some time as I bought Vorpx. Originally when using Vireiro it involved copying files into your game directories and was only limited to direct X 9 games (cannot remember exactly). I think I had issues with it not always working with the games it did support but it is free so it may have improved since then and so worth a try.

That's what it does for the games I've tried. I don't know whether there are any games that support separate head and body tracking.

Be aware that you may need to spend half an hour or more fiddling with the settings to get a game working as well as it can. But some games have been quite easy to set up. Unmodded Skyrim pretty much worked out of the box with the recommended configuration, and DNF worked acceptably as soon as I pushed the FOV as high as possiblei in the game menus (which is still too low, since the max is only around 90).

You have the ability to let them burn a cd for you for a few bucks more. Does that "remove" the drm?

So I purchased and installed VorpX tonight.  Man, I am blown away.  Only had time to mess with two games and the desktop function.  Games I played were Left 4 Dead 2 and Crysis 2.  Both had very good 3D.  I messed with some of the FOV settings a bit, but I can tell it needs some tweaking.

I saw that vorpx has games that it's optimized for, as well as game profiles.  Does that mean if you game is in that list you can pretty much start it up and play?  I has some pretty bad lag when head turning in Crysis 2 and some weird screen flickering to L4D2.  I assume it needs to be tweaked.  Do you guys find settings online or just move them until it feels good?

Second, for games that have built in 3D like Crysis, do you turn that on or just let vorpx do the work?

Very happy with my purchase after just 30 minutes of messing with it!

andyring - The fact it works for a lot of games that don't have VR support. I'm not really sure about Vireiro, but I dont think TriDef supports the Rift anymore. You have to tinker with Vorpx on some games, but I really like it. Can make you feel a little more sick then usual if you not used to it, but that's VR for you.

OK thanks lovethis.  It sounded like you had used all of them and vorpx was a clear winner.

There are a few different areas of interest here - quality of experience, how well it converts a 2d game.  Amount of games that work with it.  Ease of use.

Ease of use i'm not too worried about but some will be.  It's a bonus, of course.

I have used all of them and I like VorpX a lot better. I had TrDef installed and couldn't get anything working anymore so I uninstalled it. Vireiro, I had problems setting up and running some games, but obviously they are bringing out a new version since the dev said in this thread. I've never really had problems with Vorpex and setting it up, so that's what I based my vote on.
