Some members said the covers are good and some complained. Some said 26.00 (includes delivery charge) for two pieces of cloth? WHAT THE HECK DID THEY EXPECT. for what it is it's very good. They even come in a nice pouch. It definitely does the job. Some people are never pleased.
The fit is terrible and the QC is doubly terrible. My 2 year could make better. Well maybe not lol my mate got a refund because they admitted QC problems. I'd be pleased if the damn things fitted. My dk2 covers were fab but these? Nope
A PC with lots of gadgets inside and a thing to see in 3D that you put on your head.
Agree with Techy, the dk2 version was fantastic but the CV1 are not as well made, they do not stay on properly and the quality is poor comparatively but with a high price of $38 aussie delivered. Maybe that is value for U.S. buyers but definitely not down here. Buyer beware.
I was reasonably happy at first - I had some reaction to the foam stuff that Oculus use and the cover material is far better for me - also seems a bit cooler. After a session where I had to remove the headset several times I got a bit frustrated, but using two short strips of double-sided padded tape I now have a good solution (one in the nose cut-out and one at the brow). This tape holds the cover in place, but is also very easy to remove without staining.
Let's be honest - there isn't a huge amount for such a cover to cling on to, though there could have been some tape or sticky velcro included in the package. I agree the price is a little high, all things considered - though for a low-volume production I suppose it always would be.
I've pledged to the new facial interfaces they are producing, with the padded cover and I think that will be a better solution.
Yeah the new facial interfaces with padded cover look really nice but by pricing them in Euro's it puts the cost at over $56 Aussie, too high for what it is.
I received mine last week. It was sorta easy to put on but the nose part hung loose as there is nothing to really grab onto. With the HMD on, the nose part kept 'falling' and bothering me. It was starting to itch and I know It sounds stupid but the slightest change in pressure on my nose gets a bit annoying. Think of it like the wind blows a tissue or piece of paper on your hand, your reaction will be to remove it, you wouldn't just leave it there...or at least I wouldn't. And, my face really started to heat up a lot faster and hotter than without it. I took the HMD off after not even 5 minutes and I was drenched. I took the cloth off and it was fine...still got a bit warm after 20 or 30 minutes but wasn't sweating or anything. I am a bit disappointed really.
That's a good point - I tend to sweat a bit in the Rift in any case, though not every time. But when I do, the VR Cover gets very damp and I also get a big problem with the centre of the lenses fogging up - and that is a real pain.
Based on several great reviews on VR Cover for older version of Rift, I purchased 2 packs of the new VR Covers as soon as they launched it. I knew that I would make demo to my friends so that seemed a good hygiene solution. I was disappointed by the lack of choices (colors, material) but I purchased anyway.
Even though I don't like them, I still use them. I think long term, I assume they protect the Rift faceplate. However I stopped to use them when I demo to friends. It's too hard to explain them how to adjust the Rift AND the cover on their face... One of my friends was worried. She though she broke the HDM when the cover felt on the floor!
Their new replacement foam look great but they are too expensive. And I feel they will be crap. Then they will launch a new & improved product AFTER everyone bought the version 1. I feel that the Kickstarter is just a strategy to make more money before anyone has the chance to test and review the product.
A quote from this article: http://uploadvr.com/vr-covers-next-project-to-be-vr-fitness-experience/
“We worked and tested a few more hygiene solutions last year that we just didn’t roll out because the market was so small,” he wrote. “But we will release later this year.”
I read this as: We wish to sell 100 000 Covers to 100 000 customers but the market is too small. So, instead, will we sell 10 lightly different solutions to 10 000 customers.
I've used a much cheaper method. I've cut up a pair of socks and used them with some double sided sticky tape. You could say I wear my socks on my face now.
