Vr has ruined 2 dimensional gaming

It has for me anyways.  Anyone else just not interested in playing there old games.  The VR graphics are great, and even when you watch something 2 dimensional, like a movie, the VR set is just more immersive.  If you don't have a good set of headphones, get them!  I got these,  Logitech G333 VR Gaming Earphones... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08DCLV85W?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share .  Just like the Oculus, superb value for the money.  Don't listen to the bad reviews they are smoking something.  and get yourself a high quality USB 3 drive, cheap memory.  Run stuff off that and you'll speed up the Oculus.

I'm glad the PS5 wasn't available, because if that I bought a gaming computer, and that pairs nicely with the Oculus.

I've lost weight too!

VR had that same impact on me! Especially during the years of 2016-2019.

But after I had played through the nearly every high quality title available, I found myself looking at 2D titles again. While 2D can never compare to immersive VR Experiences, the fact remains that the 2D gaming market today simply has much more compelling games across a wider spectrum of gaming genres.

Nowadays, when I want immersion I play VR. But if I want a compelling gaming experience I lean back towards 2D.

Examples of compelling 2D games that are unrivaled with the current selection of VR titles (both stand-alone and PC) include:

  • Hades
  • Xcom2
  • Pillars of Eternity

Xcom 2, or anything Xcom even oldschool, you got me...

Imagine xcom, turn based and still based on probabilities, but soldier view, and move interactive firing.

Or just playing what we got but with the headset.

But you're right.  I'm only a month in on actual play, so I have lots a experiences ahead of me before I get the itch.

Fun thing is that it's possible to play your flatscreen games while in VR. Was playing Final Fantasy XIV while sitting in an empty movie theater the other day, for example. All without ever leaving my home.

Lo, a quest! I seek the threads of my future in the seeds of the past.

Yep I first got into VR gaming on Jan 15th 2017 with a Rift CV1.

Primarily did it for combat flight sims, but also found I enjoyed other made for VR games on occasion.

Last time I gamed on my monitor - Jan 14th 2017.

With flight sims as my main hobby , they never get old for me.

I've replayed the Starcraft series and Company of Heroes 2 since starting my VR odyssey. They're definitely best played on a decent monitor and neither seem to have lost their appeal to me. Currently playing through the Age of Empires games again, looking forward to CoH 3 next year and AoE 4 soon. I find I'm not interested in FPS's on a monitor anymore, after Fallout VR nor monitor race sims... only VR now for those.

Flight sims are a bit of a mixed bag, I'm more interested in civil aviation than combat sims, there's something more real about them. I can imagine getting a private pilot's licence but I'm not going to be in the air force any time soon.

The options for civil flight simming in VR are dependent on your PC hardware more than any other programs and my PC is great for everything except MS Flight Simulator, it's good enough to spend a little time in it but no more. The previous options of FSX and P3D in VR were completely useless. So I'm still favouring monitor for MSFS and I've ordered the new Gigabit Aorus 43" monitor for FS (also for productivity but mostly for FS). When I upgrade my PC, either with 3080 of next gen card and CPU, that will hopefully change things and I'll fly only in VR.

It's useful though to be able to see all the Honeywell yoke controls plus the buttons I've assigned to my x52 for other things until the Bravo throttle quadrant becomes available again. I also use my tablet for flight planning so being able to see that is a bonus.

So I'm probably 50/50 gaming in VR and on monitor right now.
