Flight sim fans rejoice! 😄

At that point, I was already well versed with the Oculus Rift, though not quite sold on the experience it offered. War Thunder changed everything, however. From a first-person view, I slowly made my way into the open skies as the lightly cologned man instructed me on all the different triggers. Once I gained enough air, he told me to spin which, sequentially, had my world turn as if I were in fact soaring through the sky. My surroundings, the beautiful vistas, forests and rivers below, swum around me as I rotated my head in awe. Finally, the Rift has a game worth bragging about.

The article itself does not say DK1 or DK2, but in the comments, one user asks if it was DK1 or 2 and the author replies it was DK2: (He also thinks a DK3 is VERY likely... Make of that what you will...)

DK2, which made the experience the great one it was.

But wait... There's more!

It’s hard to explain the overwhelming emotions felt during my session in the sky, even as flames arose from my engine. It’s the most convincing unreality I’ve ever been in. Confusing, I know. War Thunder, an already immensely enjoyable game, and most certainly one I’ll be hopping into again, is also the first title to sell me on the Oculus Rift.
But... but... but... I just NEED to know about the Baba! The Baba has me hypmotized!

DCS is currently developing version 2.0 which is basically a brand new engine (EDGE) expect to see big improvements in visuals outside the cockpit along with frame rate improvements. 2.0 is due later this year.

1.2.9 which released today is also the final update before 2.0

Check out eagle dynamics Facebook page for some great edge visuals. You are correct the current visuals are very dated (outside the cockpit).

I got a 193mb update today to dcs world now if only i had my dk2 to try!

I run it through Steam and my updates are downloading now... 😄

I'm waiting for the Huey to go on special though. Helicopters should be amazing in DK2.

I like dcs but I will never get 75fps with my A-10C module. Never. And I cant hit 75fps without the Rift.

Yeah I been looking at the Huey and now the sabre looks like it would be nice to fly.

DCS does not seem to work with the new runtime on the DK1. Renders in stereo but no head tracking. I'm guessing its like Unreal 4, built with 0.3

I downloaded War Thunder just for the DK2 support. The game is running smoothly on my monitor. Is there a guide somewhere on enabling rift mode.

There is an 'Oculus Rift' checkbox in the advanced graphics settings. I got it working in extended mode, but the IPD is headache-inducing. It's basically unplayable. Also, I had no tracking inside the cockpit.

I tried both.

DCS:
I have to disable OVRService. Orientation tracking works OK if I move slowly, otherwise it jumps like crazy, positional tracking is inverted (forward is backward and left is right, I have to rotate the camera 180° for it to work right), the image is very jerky even if it runs at 75 fps, the scale is correct.

War Thunder:
Orientation tracking works, positional tracking is inverted, framerate is OK, a bit of latency, the scale is wrong, I feel like a giant inside a giant cockpit, the graphics is very beautiful, much better than DCS
