War Thunder ~AND~ DCS Both Support DK2

Flight sim fans rejoice! 😄

http://www.hardcoregamer.com/2014/06/22/e3-2014-war-thunder-oculus-rifts-new-best-friend/90599/

At that point, I was already well versed with the Oculus Rift, though not quite sold on the experience it offered. War Thunder changed everything, however. From a first-person view, I slowly made my way into the open skies as the lightly cologned man instructed me on all the different triggers. Once I gained enough air, he told me to spin which, sequentially, had my world turn as if I were in fact soaring through the sky. My surroundings, the beautiful vistas, forests and rivers below, swum around me as I rotated my head in awe. Finally, the Rift has a game worth bragging about.

The article itself does not say DK1 or DK2, but in the comments, one user asks if it was DK1 or 2 and the author replies it was DK2: (He also thinks a DK3 is VERY likely... Make of that what you will...)

DK2, which made the experience the great one it was.

But wait... There's more!

It’s hard to explain the overwhelming emotions felt during my session in the sky, even as flames arose from my engine. It’s the most convincing unreality I’ve ever been in. Confusing, I know. War Thunder, an already immensely enjoyable game, and most certainly one I’ll be hopping into again, is also the first title to sell me on the Oculus Rift.
But... but... but... I just NEED to know about the Baba! The Baba has me hypmotized!

Hi.
Is this really true? Is war thunder REALLY working in dk2 already? If so how come no videos. Thanks
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR 🙂

Virus? Please explain.

Has anyone tried DCS? I have seen one report saying it didn't work. The manufacturer has said it does! I'd love to hear what others have found.

The thread title came from another announcement but it seems neither supports the new DK2s yet.

DCS said they would release an update today that adds DK2 support and presumably War Thunder will also update soon. The link in the OP does indicate it already supports it but also note the DKs going out now are different than the ones that the link author tested with. It was a DK2 but with the older firmware.

OVR is shipping our DK2s with 0.4.0 SDK and 2.11(IIRC) firmware which breaks the previous implementations that would drive pre-release DK2s.

They have both committed to support it but they need time to implement the actual support. DCS should be good to go today but no guarantees.

I think Gaijin was way ahead of the game when it comes to head tracking since War Thunder already had the ability to move your body around the cockpit using buttons. Being able to lean closer to the canopy to look around the head rest or peak up over your instrument panel to see more of the nose has been a part of the game since I have been playing. I cannot think of another game that has a cockpit view that you can do that. If there are any, and they already have Rift support, I am willing to bet they will also be DK2 ready with head tracking. If you guys can think of any, please let me know. I would love to check them out when I get my Rift.

Doesnt DCS have the most bland boring landscape since Falcon in the 90's?

I tried it in DK1 and although it had good scale it just looked awful outside the window, like flying in a virtual world created by the monotonous droning voice of Eric Olthwaite
