What am I doing wrong?

Is it the dub step in my song, when I go...!

No, just kidding.
Serious question though. I got my Rift yesterday, and while it works REALLY well, and I'm already falling in love with it, I have noticed that when I play the demo's with lots (and sometimes just a little) movement, I tend to get motion sick somewhat quickly. Like, in less than a minute in games like roller coasters (which I suppose is normal, but still). It gets to the point where I can't play.
In standard FPS demos, it tends to happen over the course of 5-10 minutes, depending on the game. Am I simply adjusting to Virtual Reality, and it's just how my body works, or have I miss configured the Rift? I used the SDK Configuration Tool, but do I need to copy a config file from there into all games I play, or do they all look in the same place for said file?
If that's not the case, any other suggestions for making it fit me better?

Thanks

Try reading my reply to the nausea thread

See if it helps you to identify your issue.

PS: when you are doing the oculus calibration to measure your IPD, try measure it in the way I do: when measuring the line, I want to make it so that the line "JUST DISAPPEAR" with all angle. Yes, I know the program want you to follow the line, but I instead of staring at the line, I tried all sorts of possible direction, including moving my focus AWAY from the line. Surprisingly, the result of it seemed better than actually following the line.

Well, that depends on the people 😛

I got used to it pretty instantly.

I'm certain accurate IPD and FOV played a really big role for not getting sick.

Edit: Actually how "focused" your eyes are also play a big role in it.

I'm only really struggling with certain demos.. Stuff that you can kick back and relax like Titans Of Space and others such as the Rift Coaster where you're not in control, just as in real life (if that makes sense?) i am fine with, but, any that would require movement are affecting me. Even Tuscany, as long as i am still and only moving my head it's ok but moving around is awful.
I actually have to close my eyes while i turn my "body", kinda makes me feel i'm in an electric wheelchair but someone else is controlling me. Hope i get past it soon...

Also check if you are getting frame drops.

FPS demos mess me up if I am sat down, try standing and see if that helps out.

Currently I have it configured so the cups almost touches my eyelashes, and using the configuration tool, it determines that I have an IPD of 68,9 mm. Does this sound possible/reasonable? If not, any chance someone could pm/skype assist me through configuring everything properly?
I tried it again today, and I didn't last more than a couple of minutes in the Tuscany Demo before getting motionsick. 😧

Thanks

Your IPD seems reasonable. (Quote: "The typical pupillary distance for adults is around 54–68 mm, while measurements generally fall between 48 and 73 mm." -wikipedia)

I'm having the exact same issues as you.
Can't last through tuscany or mostly any other demo for more than 10-15min.
Staying stationary ingame is mostly ok... but when i start looking to the sides/behind me i start getting sick. Not to mention walking around...

I have tried all lenscups (B cups seem to be the best, since i'm a little shortsighted) and ran through the IPD configuration many times, resulting in an 60,7 IPD. 3D persception seems to be correct. Nothing blurry either.

One tip i had read from a user in this forum, was to blink very fast while turning/walking. It really helped. So i'm starting small with that technique, hoping i'll get used to it over time.

It's pretty weird since i'm not really that person who's susceptible to motion/travel sickness. Can't imagine trying the "hardcore" things such as HL2...

Tuscany kills me, can't stay there for more than a few mins but to make matters worse my FPS have suddenly started to drop to around 40 which makes it even more unbearable. I don't recommend the Dungeon Coaster, i had to stop before it finished 😞
