What are you doing to enhance your VR experience?

Ever since owning the DK1 I've noticed people would first say something along the lines of "It feels like I'm really there" and wave their hands in front of their face to see if they could see it in VR.

Since then I been looking for ways to enhance VR for myself and others. Even as a kid I always thought it would be cool to feel some sort of physical feedback while watching a movie or playing a game. I came across the SubPac just last week and after watching dozens of reviews and reactions I ordered it because it seemed close to what I've always been looking for. That should be arriving today and I can't wait!

Other ways I tried to enhance my VR experience was buy backing ControlVR through Kickstarter. It was supposed to be a device that allowed you to use your hands in VR to interact with objects. It seemed ideal at the time but I'm sure I'm not the only one in this community that still feels the pain of never receiving anything for backing that project.

Finally, the Virtuix Omni is another Kickstarter that I have desperately been waiting for. With it you can walk, run, and jump in VR games/experiences where it makes the most sense. Maybe this year I'll receive it, maybe... It would be nice to receive the Omni and Oculus Touch around the same time.

So what hardware or software are you using or plan to purchase to add to your VR experience?

You are flying around and flying around a bit more and flying around a bit more of course that's not exciting. You need to do some reading and Youtube video watching. It has a steep learning curve but there's ZERO point in just flying in random directions.

Completely agree, somehow I probably just thought hey its a 'game'.. any minute now 'something' exciting is bound to happen. (Kind of how I felt when I watched the Blair Witch Movie)... sadly it just never did.  Maybe I'll read about it some day, try again and see what I missed and never look back.

Anyways - im conscious of not wanting to turn this posters post into an ED thread... so sorry for that OP.

I got a wheel/pedal/shifter setup and make a cockpit to mount them all to.  Bought some tactile transducers as well, though they weren't quite as nice as I was expecting.  I think some different mounting might help them out though.

Granted I think of the racing situation a little backwards.  I don't think of the wheel as an enhancement to the VR, I think of the VR as an enhancement to the whee.  I would have bought the wheel setup first and considered the Rift the add-on to make it more authentic than purchasing the Rift first and getting the controllers to make it more authentic, though I only bought both because of each other in the long run.

my wife always has a bunch of fans on in the house and I will say sometimes the slight breeze adds to the immersion its crazy some times something small like that hits at just the right times and adds some real feelings

Since neither do anything without a 'game' and a 'thing' the game runs on whether a PC or console, I consider both to be add-ons, as neither is necessary to play the game.

I suppose whatever you had first.. then the second thing will feel like that's what you are 'adding on'.

I do think as far has enhancing the VR experience the message is clear that the method of control is important to some people in order to enhance the VR experience.

Either way, I think these things go hand in hand and manufacturers must be rubbing their hands at the thought of selling stuff to a new market who may not have bought their method of control otherwise.

I bought the CV1 already first, so whether  I buy other stuff or not I suppose will be down to the games and experiences that exist and can be used for it. (Ill include the Touch in that)

I plan to get the Touch - but honestly... would there be any point getting another 'add-on' controller if the content wasn't there ? I think not.

I havnt bought a wheel. I havnt bought a HOTAS... never even considered it before VR.

Since getting VR, while I still have not yet bought either... I must say I am now considering it... so that's got to be good news as Im that new market I mentioned...

Just not there yet for me... still not enough content for me to justify the space they take up yet.

Just got the SubPac in. This definitely adds to the experience. It's like having a sub woofer strapped to your back. Very light and from what I'm experiencing so far, it's going to be hard to go back to playing music or games without it. This is especially good when you want to crank up the volume but don't want to disturb anyone. I'm still trying to figure out how to get it to work with the Rift without disabling the Rift headphones and using external ones but I'll work on that later. You definitely feel it more with games (especially EVE) than music, at least that's my initial experience.

Oh, those are my cats. They're happy every time I get a new toy because they get a new box to play in.

Ubisoft, the French video-game developer, has announced a special virtual-reality mask that will "pump fart smells in gamers' nostrils" while playing the new game South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Dubbed Nosolus Rift (hee-hee), the immersive system won't be available for public sale, as it was specifically designed for use at live gaming events around the world. The Fractured But Whole, though, will be on the market beginning December 6; the role-playing game "casts players as the gassy new kid in town and lampoons superhero culture." Because not all heroes wear capes, but they do indeed utilize their ass powers to fart.

kcampbell try voicemeeter.

I'm going to build a kickbutter type system and will try voicemeeter. The problem is latency so I.m going to see if I can use asio drivers to compensate for that.

I will do a thread on it to let everybody know if it works.

Thanks @TC1999. I'll try to test it out tonight and let you know if it worked.

I really wish SubPac had attachments for the legs because I want that whole body experience.
