What are you doing to enhance your VR experience?

Ever since owning the DK1 I've noticed people would first say something along the lines of "It feels like I'm really there" and wave their hands in front of their face to see if they could see it in VR.

Since then I been looking for ways to enhance VR for myself and others. Even as a kid I always thought it would be cool to feel some sort of physical feedback while watching a movie or playing a game. I came across the SubPac just last week and after watching dozens of reviews and reactions I ordered it because it seemed close to what I've always been looking for. That should be arriving today and I can't wait!

Other ways I tried to enhance my VR experience was buy backing ControlVR through Kickstarter. It was supposed to be a device that allowed you to use your hands in VR to interact with objects. It seemed ideal at the time but I'm sure I'm not the only one in this community that still feels the pain of never receiving anything for backing that project.

Finally, the Virtuix Omni is another Kickstarter that I have desperately been waiting for. With it you can walk, run, and jump in VR games/experiences where it makes the most sense. Maybe this year I'll receive it, maybe... It would be nice to receive the Omni and Oculus Touch around the same time.

So what hardware or software are you using or plan to purchase to add to your VR experience?

I havnt bought a wheel. I havnt bought a HOTAS... never even considered it before VR.

Since getting VR, while I still have not yet bought either... I must say I am now considering it... so that's got to be good news as Im that new market I mentioned...

Just not there yet for me... still not enough content for me to justify the space they take up yet.

I considered a wheel several times before my VR headset, but could never pull the trigger.  I had played on a pretty good quality setup in the past, but it lacked a sense of speed and it just didn't quite work for me.  I couldn't tell I was going into a corner too fast or anything like that.  With the advent of VR I was hoping I had finally found the magic bullet to complete the system.  I had debated building a simrig in the past as well to give me some sensation of speed/movement, but the Rift was the cheaper and easier option so it was all a package deal in my head.  I essentially bought the headset just for racing, but with the justification that the headset could do much more than that, so it was an "added bonus".

Oh I forgot! I have my eye on one of these Geko System chairs, but can't afford one until next year.

@Bloodlet that is nice and definitely going on my list! My only concern is its usage outside outside of flying/driving simulations.

I use HOTAS with Elite Dangerous. I mean, it kind of goes without saying, you really want them for it, but in VR...it's EXTREMELY immersive 🙂

I use x52, its a little disconcerting seeing mmy hands on the correct stick and throttle, then looking down at my feet in game and thinking "dont remember buying those boots" !  DOH !!!

I just recently found out about that system as well.  Definitely a different take on G simulation.  I'm not sure I'd call it a motion simulator exactly, but certainly a nice package. Price isn't actually terrible for a commercial sim either, though still up there.  My understanding from the few reviews I've read is that it takes a little time to get used to because it sort of relies on you to "push back" against it if that makes sense.  Would like to try one for sure though.

oh trust me... $1500 is CHEAP consider some of the other simulators... they go from $1.5k (no seats or anything just frame)-$5.0k+.  Then the complete starting at $50k

Hmm that chair does seem cool. There's also the roto vr chair. I have one of those pre-ordered but it's not ready for consumer use yet it seems

kcampbell try voicemeeter.

I'm going to build a kickbutter type system and will try voicemeeter. The problem is latency so I.m going to see if I can use asio drivers to compensate for that.

I will do a thread on it to let everybody know if it works.

@TC1999 it works but as you mentioned latency is an issue for me. It's not much at all but even the slightest bit annoys me so I'll work on trying to fix that.

I have been telling myself I'm going to build a motion-sim for some time now, but it can be a pretty involved/expensive thing to get into. Another option I'm going to play with first now is the Gametrix KW-908 Jetseat.

It does now have support for Dirt:Rally, Project Cars, ETS2, ATS, among others including flight sims like DCS... AC & iRacing coming soon.  You can get one for $99 from Russia, but have to deal with the potential problems that involves. Or, you can order from https://andres-eshop.pswebshop.com/ for $165 ($195 with added tech support), but with guaranteed quick delivery etc you don't get from the main Russian source.

Basically, it's like SimVibe in a massage pad you can just throw on your seat in one nice easy package, and a pretty cheap option for enhancing VR.
