What requirements does Oculus have when it comes to steering wheels?

I am researching the best types of steering wheels that are compatible with the Oculus, but I am unable to find any list of requirements for that compatibility.

You have to check with games / Apps makers to have an answer. If I wanted to make a bad joke (not my style, I promise!) I'll said it's like asking a list of movies approved to be watched on a Sony monitor 😉

Found the conversation I was searching for you that may be helpful : https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/comment/639961#Comment_639961

Depends on game of course. But the most popular VR racing sims (Assetto Corsa / Competizione, Project Cars, Raceroom, iRacing, Dirt Rally...) have support for all kinds of wheels, from the cheapest T80 to high end direct drive stuff. Basically if it's PC compatible it *will* work.

That said, don't buy the cheapest wheel you can find, save up for something with actual force feedback (NOT just vibration). It makes the games so much better there's no comparison.

Personally I use a very old Logitech G25, so far it worked with everything I tried it with.

It will be per the game. The Oculus software itself doesn't do anything with racing wheels, but each developer can add support if they want (and many of the popular racing games do have support).

I would not shy away from some inexpensive wheels/pedals to start off with.  I have a Thrustmaster Ferrari Red Legend Edition ($60-70) and it works great with Assetto Corsa and Project Cars.  No force-feedback but I'm not a big fan of force-feedback anyway.  However, I know quite a few are.  I might consider a more expensive/better wheel later but this is fine for now.

BTW, even with the most expensive wheel you are still going to get beat by a 10yo kid using his keyboard, lol!

I'm STILL using an old Logitech Driving For Pro from maybe 10 years ago. I can't believe it still works.

Like other have said, the Wheels have nothing to do with Oculus. What matters is finding driving games you like that support VR. Those games support certain wheels.

You really can't go wrong with Logitech or Thrustmaster wheels.
