When you get your confirmation / shipping email please post your order number (minus the last 4), What your initial anticipated date was given when ordering, and any details about the shipping (ground/air/arrival time)

It will give me something to click like a rabbit in anticipation of making mine ship faster.

The thing that blows my mind is the fact that Oculus hasn't charged anyone yet.  You'd think they would want to get the cleared payment a few days before shipping at least (if not a week or 2).  That way, if there are a bunch of insufficient funds it won't hold up the shipping process and they can create a shipping queue that includes fully paid customers.  It seems like they are creating their shipping queue without having the funds and therefore it seems like moving people up from a later queue becomes more difficult when the need arises.  They're acting as if all of these pre-orders are going to successfully pay.

That is kind of interesting but since they haven't shipped, they haven't charged, right? Kickstarters show a big fat $0 for the price and the billing is Oculus info.

Yeah, I would think that top priority with this pre-order would be billing.  Bill further in advance for pre-orders.  If there is one thing we know for certain, they aren't shipping until they have cleared payment.  Even if they start shipping Wednesday, I would have thought that all first wave (at least) cards/paypal would have been charged by now.   It seems like they are going to make the billing and shipping process happen at nearly the same time.  This seems like a mistake to me because I think the chances of billing problems are high in this pre-order because of the $0 down payment and high profile nature of the product.  So any problems with billing are going to negatively impact the shipping time, whereas charging cards even a week or 2 in advance, could have streamlined the process so that the shipping queues were filled with only pre-qualified orders.  It seems now the queues are not pre-qualified and if they are charging and shipping at the same time, it will be more difficult to replace those bad orders on the fly.  Sorry if that didn't make sense in the first post.

KS orders are a different animal as they were all pre-qualified.

Well if the orders were already paid for, it wouldn't cause any delay at all.  They would just ship.  Also, the delay I predict isn't necessarily from order to order, I'm thinking in terms of batches.  It appears they are creating waves in batches and sending out the emails only to orders in those waves.  So I'm thinking it will be unlikely that they move people into a quicker wave with this setup.  So I agree that if a credit card declines, it's one strike and you're out, on to the next.  But it could also mean that they simply finish the wave.  And all of the declines and cancellations could have been someone else's order that is waiting.

Anyways, it is what it is, doesn't matter what I think.  I hope I'm entirely wrong.

At the risk of getting a few virtual shoes thrown at me, I received mine last night. And it's awesome. Sorry. 🙂

Here's my relevant info and hopefully it will help:
Kickstarter# in the 1700s.
Order# 61300006728xxx

Jan5th - Lucked out and found my KS Address confirmation survey email quickly and replied immediately.
Mar23rd - Received my "Order Processed" email.
Mar25th - Received my "Rift is on the way" email.
Mar26th - Tracking information showed on the order.
Mar27th - Arrived at my hometown sorting facility.
Mar28th - Arrived at my home.

I have a theory that I think a few others have noticed as well, for the kickstarter Rifts at least. I think it's less about backer number and more about what order the surveys were completed in. I'm not sure why I would get mine day one when other lower KS# folks did not, so it's the only thing I can think.

No shoe being thrown by me. The more people who've actually got one and say it's great, the less inclined I am to cancel my order and go for Vive.

Hope you carry on enjoying yours!
