Made me sick quickly: - Tuscany on Dk1 - One game all about terraforming a globe and riding cars in it -- every jump with the car especially induced strong sickness
Didn't make me sick: - The Great River on DK2 - Asunder Earthbound DK1
In DK1 almost everything. In DK2 still almost everything, but it takes much longer now. In DK1 I was good for about 10 minutes and then I had to stop. I can do about 30 minutes in DK2 without much issue. I've done 45 in dk2 and that was ok but I felt a little off afterward.
DK1 was really bad for me. I couldnt do anything for more than 5 minutes. DK2 is better now. HL2 was pretty bad before I looked up the console commands to make my head turn independently from the running directions. There are quite a couple of console commands that make HL2 a better experience.
Most people I know still struggle most with anything FPS like where they have controls over the movement.
Ive played about a hundred games and demos so cant remember every one, but half life 2 was the stand-out nausea-o-tron. I never carry on if I feel sick so have never vommed.
Faceted flight made me feel a bit rough, but that was early on before VR legs. After three days most demos were fine from then on.
Only Windlands and even that only for a very small amount after multiple hours of testing the Rift on the very first day of having it. I've tried 10 different titles and demos, ranging from Totoro and Cyberspace to War Thunder and Elite: Dangerous
August 1st: DK2 Ordered (Finland)
October 7th: Ready straight to Processing
14th of October: Received 🙂
Minecraft on DK1 was my best and worst experience. After an hour or two forcing my way through the signs of nausea I couldn't bear it any longer and had to go to bed early to let my brain rest.
I tried it back with the DK2 this week and got sick after a couple of minutes. By default head movement controls the body so I went into the options to change this but for some reason head tracking got lost all of a sudden and it was instant "nausea fest" when I realised it.
Still, Minecraft is awesome in the Rift and the DK2 makes the experience even better than the DK1 so I'll try again.
never tried dk1 my first night with dk2 I played about 4 hrs strait every demo I could find none of which made me sick. I did get slightly nauseous playing quake 2vr but I think its because My a/c was off and I got to hot as it hasn't happened since. I may not be the best test subject for this as I'm a pilot and have a pretty strong stomach. I let my mom try it, She doesn't play games heck she doesn't even care for animated movies but she was glued to the rift for over a hour the only thing that ended up making her sick was I had a screen shot from dcs for my wallpaper and when I switched to extended mode the fact that it was a still image made her sick for almost a day. I recommend just using a black screen as the wallpaper
