I believe rift deliveries are slow because of the huge demand created by the summer sale. I would not be shocked that if the sales go well enough Oculus makes another surprise announcement and says that the 399 price will remain permanently. What do you think?
We already had a surprise announcement about a week ago with the new Marvel game.
If Oculus is having (more) shipment delays then the only announcement people want to hear is... that their purchase is finally shipping.
The Rift price cut being permanent does sound feasible though. However, they need to sort out their shipping issues first. The Rift can be discounted to a mere $1, but it won't mean a damn thing to anyone if the product doesn't ship.
I'll think they'll announce Palmer Luckey is back, and will be taking over Zuckerberg's job at FB (though he'll still have to work part time at Pepperidge Farm).
How's that for a surprise?
