Will oculus try to beat PSVR to market

So is there any benefit to oculus beating Sony to the market with Touch, if only by a few days. wonder if there are many people on the fence waiting to see all 3 company's out with HMD and hand controllers before they open their purse ?

Will we see a pre order date at OC3 or do you think they have been building up Stock ready for a full release during OC3 ?

Unlike Rift Pre-orders Oculus have a good indication of how many orders to expect and could be ready for them to go live.

Sony users will likely be far too busy with their hands over their mouths holding back vomit; touch controllers won't do them much good.

Motion sickness comes from making the VR user walk (or more specifically rotate and strafe) with hand input : There's just plenty of things you can pull off with 6D hand controllers in VR, without requiring the user to walk through hand input...

But a Resident VR exclusive for PSVR is just definitely not one of them : They should have just sponsored a console exclusive VR bonus level for that one instead (such as a VR rail shooter level).

I doubt Oculus will try to beat PSVR to market. While sometimes its nice to be 'first' with things.

The Vive already beat Oculus to market with hand controllers so they lost that title already.

I think the only advantage now is waiting... one you see what price the other platforms are doing, they can say... ooh, well our thing we believe is 'better' so we need a higher price point

No @Cyril VR sickness entails far more than what you describe. It has already been discussed on this forum.

oculus shouldn't try to beat anyone where they should fix their own problem first.  You can't compete in a market when your own product is flawed.

Window's has been flawed since version 1. That hasn't stopped their global success. Flaws simply need to be managed and their impact mitigated. Trying to fix all flaws before advancing will leave you spinning in circles for eternity.

All these posts are based on the notion that: VR = video games

Oculus showed their smarts with the Gear VR. Mobile VR allows all the non-gaming industries to flourish. Video games do not shape the world. Never have, never will. VR is branching out to industries that really matter, and Gear VR is a top contender.

Actually games DID pretty much shape the world... the computer industry developed high end graphics, audio, 3d coprocessors, and high speed memory pretty much as a result of demand and with funds provided by gamers looking to pimp their rides.

Or maybe you think that you need a 4ghz processor to surf porn? 😉

That is an impressive amount of misinformation.

World governments maintain technology that is faster than the consumer products. This is even true for WiFi. But that's a huge digression from this topic. You apparently think that the phrase "shape the world" applies to anything that exists, so... the invention of the dishwasher and ice cream shaped the world by your standards.

There are real industries that truly changed the course of life on earth. Such as, electricity. Without electricity, computers can't run. Neither can the Internet.

That's just one example. I'm sure you'll find a way to butcher the history of innovation.
