Will rollercoasters get more immersive or is this about as good as it will get?

I am still amazed at how good the rift is. Everybody who has tried my rift has loved it.

One thing that did disappoint me is rollercoasters. I have seen
reaction videos on you tube of people using a DK2 and no limits 2 and
other developer rollercoasters. The big kid in me couldn't wait to try a
VR rollercoaster.

Sadly I don't get the same feelings/reactions other people do when
using no limits 2. Sometimes I get the feeling of height during the
initial long slow climb part of the ride. Strangely the best 2
coasters I have found for really feeling something during the long slow
climb are castle coaster and snow coaster which are dk2 rollecoasters. I
got them working by using a wrapper. Once the ride starts fully I
don't feel like I am on a rollercoaster at all. I would love to try a
rift rollercoaster with a 6DOF motion platform to see if that made it
more immersive fo r me.

Strangely as well the only game the gives me nausea is no limits 2. I
don't get it from the rides. I get it from walking around. I also get
nausea when flying around but walking is far worse for me.

I know a few people on this forum are programmers. My question to
you is will VR rollcoasters become more immersive or is this as good as
it gets?

VR clearly affects everybody differently, I'm just the opposite, walking around doesn't bother me but riding the coasters does.. lol

I haven't actually tried any coasters...I'll have to add that to my todo list.

You could try enhancing your own experience by putting a fan in front of you, and leaning in the turns instead of sitting still.

But avoid standing up 🙂

Interactive roller coaster would be good.  Example where you have a gun in your hand and have to shoot aliens as you go around to open different routes.

I think without some kind of physical feedback you'll probably always be missing something.  I had the same issue with driving sims.  I played on a pretty nice arcade style cabinet that used good quality components with iRacing, but it just didn't have the feedback for me to feel like I was driving a car fast.  No sense of speed.  I've since built my own and am working on dialing up the immersion little by little without going crazy on budget.  Right now I just have some shakers on the seat to give me some sense of speed/motion/road surface/etc.  I've thought about making a 2DOF setup, but just can't justify the price at this point.  Hoping the Rift will help give me that sense of speed so I don't have to go crazy building an F1 simulator, lol.
