Hey mate, I did a fresh install and have Windows 10 preview as my main OS. Just as well I have a dedicated 60Gig SSD for times like this. Will see how it goes but still happy I installed it even though I'm a sucker for all things new! Ha!

Let's just hope this is not the amazing mess of pig's face failure Windows 8 was. Incredible feat of a failure that was, I sometimes think it was intentional sabotage. How can a company so large be so extremely wrong is beyond me.

Finally got my rift up and running with Windows 10 Preview, is there something up with the runtime from the downloads?. I checked my external HDD where I had a saved version 0.4.2 and that installed fine with no problems. Probably just me but anyway all good so far.

Windows 98 – shitty
Windows XP- Cool
Windows Vista – shitty
Windows 7 -Cool
Windows 8 – Shitty
Windows 9 – ? (maybe would have been good if chosen instead of 10)
Windows 10 – most probably shitty due to the alternator of 2.

Good luck everybody, I am staying at 7

As a side note, I had it running on a VM to check it out, though what I noticed was that even running 2 programs on 3 desktops, when everything minimized except the task manager, I was getting 0% - 1% CPU usage. Checked what was using the cpu, and it was only the task manager.

Still hogs a bit of RAM though.

For a comparison, I run 1% - 3% cpu utilization in Windows 7 with the same (minus the additional desktops) setup (all programs minimized).

One thing I'm not liking is the fact that the pre-loaded programs, at least the financial one, is still "tablet-ized", meaning it scrolls left to right, not up to down. Not sure if there is a setting for it or not, didn't look too hard.

You forgot 98SE, ME, and 2000 which then lead to XP.

I'm gonna hold off on 10 for now. Wait until official release when drivers have worked out the bugs a bit. Last thing I need is a ton of driver issues and compatibility issues I get every time I play with their early releases. It might take a few weeks to work the oculus bugs out in 10. Depending on hardware and setup some will have no issues now and others tons of issues. Nature of the beast... Early adopter downside.

Start menu is still frustrating. Can't add folders and sort the apps into those folders easily. Why won't they just give back control of the start menu? It's like "here is your start menu, but you're going to still have to scroll through the 20 apps we've pre-loaded for you, and please be sure to add more from the store." On a plus side, start 8 still works and actually works better than in win 8.1. Start menu is fully customizable and when you hit the keyboard windows key on the left, start8 menu, windows key on the right, win 10 apps menu. Other than that, it actually seems ok. Have only tried it in a VM so nothing to report on the rift yet.
