Would I have better resolution in the rift if I had a 4K monitor instead of a standard HD monitor?

I have one other question: is the rift's resolution affected by my external monitor's resolution? I have a 1920x1080 flat panel. Would I have better quality in my rift if I had a 4K monitor instead? My card is certainly capable of 4K.
Robin thinks it might make a difference.

Nope! The rift is its own independent display, the monitor makes no difference 🙂

You can upscale some games from within their settings like chronos for example.

You can also use a oculus developer tool to upscale games but it is a developer tool 🙂

I didn't think so, but my friend, Robin, was ready to bring his 4K monitor over to find out the truth.  I believe he just wants to come over and use the Rift some more.  I thought asking on the forum would be a better way to go about it.  Thanks for the quick response.
