I've seen a few comments around credit cards causing orders to fail. Just wondering if anyone could comment on whether it might help if I switch payment method to Paypal or if that might slow things down doing it at this point. I'm probably just getting anxious, but I feel like a first minute preorder should have received their Rift by now so I'm wondering if switching would help.
As far as I can tell what has happened for me so far:
Monday - Charge was blocked by my card company on card #1. Email from Oculus was incredibly unclear about processing problems, but just in-case I changed my Payment details to Paypal using card #2. Paypal website confirms Oculus link was set up correctly as an authorised payee.
Tuesday - Another email from Oculus saying they had another processing problem. Opened a ticket. Also at some point today 400 errors started so it's not possible to try updating payment details again as no change I is there.
Wednesday - Confirmation from card #1 that it was blocked. Confirmation from card #2 and Paypal that they NEVER saw any attempt at processing. Updated my ticket, no sign Oculus are reading support tickets however.
So I really don't know if a change to Paypal will help you or not, in my case there's no sign that the change I made to Paypal helped at all but maybe?
@Amatyr That's rough, man. I hope it gets sorted out quickly. Oculus seems to be on a 5 day window for support ticket response. Maybe I'll just let it go and see what happens. I guess if I haven't seen a processing error email from Oculus I shouldn't assume it's not working. Thanks for letting me know all this.
I've changed my payment method twice after pre-order - so a total of three methods of payment. (I bought a house and moved and then I got some BS credit card fraud and had to cancel my card and get a new one). The $1 test charge has shown up every time so I think the changes went through without issue.
I had Paypal setup and has pre-approved a purchase from Oculus... They tried to process my order today and got held up. Just switch to a debit card, which they say looks good. Also got a $1 pre-authorization.... not sure how quickly they will try to charge me again, or if I was bumped somehow.... Good luck either way.
