This just seems weird to have been dropped and no one mentioned its omission or departure? This was treated as such a big thing at the time; has the MS / OVR relationship cooled?

I imagine any Xbox One streaming app for that would need to be produced by Microsoft themselves , so maybe they dropped it?
I suppose this links this discussion to the "VR Hype" diminishing post on this forum. The lack of follow up on some promises and general down-playing of market momentum in the platform strikes me.
I think we will see an MS positional statement next year on a XboneS VR/AR product, but I wonder if it will be an OVR exclusive?

I bet there will be a Xbox edition Rift... so us PC users will have to fork out for a new HMD if we want it on xbox. Same happens with all xbox licensed peripherals.
*looks at p.c. peripherals* Hmm Xbox one pad, Xbox 360 pad.

I think we all can agree that OVR "marketing team" has been dead-behind-the-switch post-Alaska (or even after the Oracle logo debacle) . The dependence on a plan to promote the product through tweets and a figurehead fell flat and with the move to a more FB driven initiative, and definitive statements are at a premium coming from the company (just look at the "three-sensor-recommendation" flare-up as an example).

...or at least someone informed their clueless marketing team that it was so.

It is interesting how the ineptitude of the two groups are interchangeable - as if they come from the same management school 😉

Haha kevinw729, I really meant the ms marketing team, but what you say about Oculus is funny.
Yeah, the discussion on here was shut down pretty quickly by the fanboys, but other forums had a blow by blow account of the vast sum spent on an over-hyped NY branding company that came up with a logo design that infringed a number of 'look and feel' designs of companies including Oracle.
It would have been too embarrassing to have dropped the investment already blown, so OVR went with it - not sure if still on the internet, but if you Google how the back of the Vive looks like the OVR logo and the CV1 back looks like the HTC Vive logo, its pretty funny...
