YOU BUMS, Quest is a waste of money

I just realized quest is a waste of money, I'm just catching up to terms, I'm referring to 6dof..3dof, 6 degree of freedom vs 3 degrees of freedom. Why on earth why I would I wasn't 6dof, it makes no sense. The important thing that a headset can do is allow you fully look around i.e. 360degree. 6dof means that I can use my body to look around corners, but THAT should all be done via either gloves or other accessory. The important thing a headset should do is provide 360degree. I won't be buying a quest, I have  a go which offers 3dof, I'll probably upgrade to 64gb. No wonder some people are writing off virtual reality, I'm happy I didn't buy the quest. Forget a quest, get a go.

Might as well play on a pancake! 6dof IS the reason! Unless your just interested in 360 degree videos... Using your body to lean/look around corners is what puts the REALITY in Virtual Reality. Just my .02

I like pinacoladas and getting caught in the rain!

Looking round corners does nothing to the imagination. You speak of looking round corners but you can clearly look round corners without moving.

If you're going to speak about a little bit of movement that you can gain by either going commando, then you might as well talk about room scale. And if you're going to talk about room scale, then it isn't virtual reality. The ability too look around in 360 open space within virtual space is virtual reality.

What I'm trying to say is that it's not the headset that should provide movement 6dof, but other equipment other than the head.

But all this can be rectified, if it is indeed the controller that provide the 6dof and not the hmd.

In the real world we have 6DoF, and Virtual Reality should be no different. You should be able to bend down and pick something off the floor, or lean forward to look in a shelf or a window. You should be able to physically duck for cover in a shooting game.

This isn't something that should be up for debate. The types of experiences offered by Quest and Rift completely overshadow anything that a 3DoF device could ever hope to provide.

I have a GO, Quest, and Rift. GO is the least immersive of the experiences.

I have a Go and Rift S headsets. Main reason why i like playing with Rift S more than Go is 6dof. Imo it makes huge difference of "being there".

You're the one whos getting bored of vr. And excuse me, but I paid more for my rift than you did for your rift and quest put together.

Like I said all this can be rectified if someone tells me between the headset and the controllers, which one is it that is providing the extra 3dof..

I wouldn't say that I'm bored of VR, I just feel that the VR Software hasn't met my expectations after 3 years (with very few exceptions). And besides, you haven't engaged in 6DoF so you really can't speak to VR just yet.

And excuse me, but I paid more for my rift than you did for your rift and quest put together.

Oh, so now you have a Rift? You said in another thread that all you had was GO, and that you ordered the Quest. But now you magically have a Rift as well? Seems suspect.

I paid $600 for my Rift and $200 for the Touch controllers. I paid full price for Quest and GO, and have easily spent $1,000 in VR Software over the last 3 years.

I'm not sure why you are trying to compare your experience and spending to mine. Seems futile.

If you really had a Rift, you wouldn't need to ask that question.

Omg this is such a ridiculous thread written by a vr hater who doesn't like that media. It's ok to rather use the other media and not like vr. But bud you dont know what the heck your talking about
