When I, mention Facebook in my high school classroom, my students laugh like, "No one uses Facebook anymore". I think that Oculus will save Facebook from the slow death that it would have incurred. As a non-tech guy, I think this is great news. Considering that most of the people on this forum fancy themselves to be developers, I understand the trepidation. I'm just a consumer, and if they force you to log into FB to use it, just create a fake account. Duh.

I'm on the fence on this one. I hate Facebook and I NEVER use it. I seriously hope someone out there will fork off the current SDK because I will be damned if my DK2 collects dust due to FORCED tracking methods of Facebook's API's and other BS.
2 Billion is a waste of a sellout and honestly its not that much money and I bet 80% of it was only via Facebook shares too..
Good luck oculus team I was excited and now I have to feel embarrassed to even own one (If I keep my pre-order). Here's to hackers that will have Sony's working on PC!

It's funny that last year Lucky was saying they wouldn't sell and want to stay in control. Ah well...
He probably realized that the Rift has some horrible side-effects (turning brain into mush, early Alzheimer) and decided to sell out while he was still ahead...
Of all, I would have expected Valve, or Amazon... but Facebook?! Well, at least Zuckerberg and I agree that VR has potential 🙂
