common strap issue cutting out sound.. what now ? *solved*

So I got the issue where the sound cut out unless u pull the strap backwards. I saw this was a common issue showing quite a bit of videos on youtube and many people who got the same thing.

should I  try to fix it or do something else ?

I assume there's no warranty and I don't really wanna buy another rift knowing this can happen again sooner or later. I saw some guy fixed it with cat cable and a soldering iron.

solved  myself with a toothpick and some tape. kind off  ridiculous that u need it but ah well.

the problem is the ribbon cable which gets to much slack and doubles up after a while. if you look at the right side u can see it actually doubles up a bit.in a opening where it extends the strap.  if u put a toothpick in there maybe 2 to make sure it doesn't double up it become straight again. put some tape on top of that to let it hold and its all solved.

If the sound fails completely instead of buying a new rift you could just use headphones with a 3.5mm extension attached to the headset cable, or bluetooth etc.

My right side speaker is going out too. Sad times. Apparently you can DIY fix it with a wire going from the left-bottom headphone connection to the right-bottom one, as seen on this post on Reddit. I'm going to try it today.

Yeah
Happened to me too

Really gutted.  So much more convienient using Rifts headphones.

The reddit thingy didnt work for me but I am going to get my mate to help.  I need another pair of hands, just to test what happens if I wire them up...

Since this issue normally happens on the right headphone I've decided to use a tooth pick and some Gorilla Tape to keep the right side locked in position. The left side still adjusts so it's alright and this might prevent it ever happening on my headset..

i ended up using some rechargeable gaming headsets. i just have to switch the audio over to them when i jump on the rift. i have replaced the headsets and the goggles already and dont want to go thru the whole issue again.
