I have the same CPU here. Runs pretty good with DK2. Therefore I would wait and test it with a PCIe USB3 card. If it is to slow, you can always upgrade, when you have the rift (and hardware prices might be better then.).

As a stop gap you could look at getting a second hand Xeon 56xx CPU. They are 6 core hyperthreaded x58 chips that should work in your motherboard.

These chips are the reason that x58 motherboards are holding their value.
