oculus doesn't care if you get the vive instead, its your loss, the vive is probably the same as the dk2
steam bought the dk1 and adjusted it to create the vive 😛

honestly people think just by saying "CANCELLING MY ORDER IM GETTING THE VIV INSTEED"
will make oculus lower their prices? no.

honestly I don't know why the playstation vr is even relevant at this point

Um....are you serious?

out of the big three, the psvr is the worst by a milestone, so that statement might be wrong but it wasn't farfetched

I think we can say that the PSVR is somewere between the dk2 and dk1... "pending" on the Dk2.
Palmer said (i can't find the article but i'm looking for it) that they have invited some of the sony team to ceck how VR is done...
guessing they are "taking inspiration" from that, at the least the basis of the PSVR are solid.
My only concern is the resolution, in no way the PS4 can handle a similar resolution to the CV1, maibe, MAIBE, something similar to DK, but for sure not at 90fps...

I'm probably not the 1st to have this opinion, but as far as PSVR goes I truly hope that it's a massive success.

Irrespective of the units specs or performance; with a user base like that, if it catches on and sells well it would probably be the single best thing that could happen to this new generation of VR by a long stretch...If it gets mass adoption on the consoles, and by-proxy a real $£$ reason for devs and publishers to get on board in a big way...we [read: the whole VR scene] are most certainly in business!

Back OT - By all means, please cancel and go grab yourselves a Vive...I care not, and it'll mean I may get my Rift a bit earlier 🙂

People are free to make there own choice, but if a few cancel my April order might get upgraded to March, so crack on.

I have tried the latest Vive and CV1. If anyone chooses the Vive over CV1 they are an idiot...

That's what I call a technical argument 😛

Oculus cares about people buying the Vive instead? obviously yes

Then again Oculus is selling all their stock, so no worries for now...

But how much stock do they have? Could be 100 units for all we know...

If they've been manufacturing since September and they only have 100 units, I'd question this companies competency.

The device has been in development how long? I started to question their competency a while ago to be honest.

I don't think Oculus really cares if anyone buys the Vive over the Rift.

Why you ask? Well because they have FB backing them, and Mr Z knows that this isn't going to be profitable or mainstream for a while.

Oculus Vision was to get "Quality VR to the masses", it doesn't matter if it's a competitor doing it.

You don't understand that facebook got acquisition of oculus about a year ago, so they started working on the cv1 for about a year, otherwise the dk2 wouldve been their final product

From what Palmer Luckey has said in recent CES interviews, Oculus plans to make their money with software sold in Oculus Home (or whatever their store is called). They aren't trying to make profit with the headset so people with Vive are ADDITIONAL sources of revenue. This isn't a bad thing unless they completely dominate the market and the Rift headset is pushed out of the market entirely.
