oculus doesn't care if you get the vive instead, its your loss, the vive is probably the same as the dk2
steam bought the dk1 and adjusted it to create the vive 😛

honestly people think just by saying "CANCELLING MY ORDER IM GETTING THE VIV INSTEED"
will make oculus lower their prices? no.

Oculus cares about people saying they are going to get Vive instead? No.

Oculus cares about people buying the Vive instead? obviously yes

Then again Oculus is selling all their stock, so no worries for now...

well, that's the idea. It's not sold yet, it's 'reserved'.

So if I wanted (Feb 29th), I could cancel my order and go for the Vive with no loss.

That is if the Vive is actually pre-ordering on the 29th. But no surprise there 🙂 They announce pre-orders right before the first Rifts ship, trying to undercut the Rifts pre-orders. Then wait two more months or more for your Vive.

Exactly this. DK2 had full-scale room tracking, tracked motion controllers and on board pass-through video. Oculus chose not to advertise these features and HTC took full advantage of that.
Not a Rift fanboi. Not a Vive fanboi. I'm a VR fanboi. Get it straight.

they aren't making money on the oculus, they will most likely lose money on all preorders again, so they really wouldnt care even a few 10-50 people get the vive instead, just as long as everyone doesn't choose the vive.

Every HMD vendor is racing right now  Razer HDK was delayed yet still they were the first, Oculus isn't able to supply the current demand (look at the current shipping dates people are getting in only a few days), remember Vive launch at December? We'll see if the can meet the February date... and PSVR doesn't have a release date.

I think right now they are competing against their building factories rather than between themselves 😄

What if Oculus decides to bill for the full amount BEFORE Feb 29 without announcing it? I'm a bit ignorant on the legality of this, but it seems viable.
