is VR worth it with my specs or should I wait?

Hello.

I'm thinking about buying a VR Headset I'm between buying a used Oculus CV1 from ebay or an Oculus Quest from Amazon.

I'm wondering if I could run games alright with my specs that I have right now or if I should spend my saved money better on a new GPU or RAM, I've read that Oculus has a feature where it sync's the frames to 45 it's called ASW 2.0 does that make it better?

I don't care about playing games on the highest fidelity, as long as I can run them well without too many FPS spikes/drops

The games that I'm likely interested to play are.
Half Life Alyx
Boneworks
Interkosmos
Pavlov
Lone Echo
Echo Arena
Subnautica
Alien Isolation

PC Specs:
CPU: I7-3770 (non k)
GPU: GTX 970
RAM: 8GB
PSU: Corsair VS550
Motherboard: ASUS P8H61-M LX3 PLUS R2.0

Thank you for your help in advance (also small note, I'm planning to use it on USB 2.0 since Oculus Link supports it now, I don't know if it makes a big difference)

Neither your CPU or GPU meet the minimum specs for PCVR. https://support.oculus.com/248749509016567/?locale=en_US With that said, I started with a similar setup, you would get a constant reminder in your Oculus home, that you don't meet the specs, but some games would run. I seriously doubt it would run Alyx or Boneworks well. I would have to say wait until you can get a newer PC, there is no upgrade path for that PC to bring you up to specs.
Gigabyte  AB350 Ryzen 2700x, 32gb ddr 4 3200, 2080ti. HP Reverb G2, Index controllers, Quest 1 and 2x Quest 2. 65" 3DTV HD3D DLP projector.

Actually his CPU and GPU are fine. The GPU meets the Recommended Specs, and using the Bottleneck Calculator there's no problem with a bottleneck with that CPU and GPU combination with 8GB of RAM:

So he'll be fine with that hardware setup.

I know that my PC specs are right on par with the recommended requirements of the Quest, but those specs vary from game to game depending how demanding it is some games list the GTX 980 as the recommended card, that's why I listed some games that I'm interested in maybe someone with similar specs could help me out.
