No matter what I try...when I run a program it goes to my screen. Im running windows 8. I can clearly see it on my monitor but it wont go to monitor 2. i drag the program to monitor 2 and open it...the program goes to monitor 1. I change the headset to monitor 1, open the program and it moves to monitor 2.

Any ideas?

Are you trying to run Unity demos?

Hold STRG while dubbleklicking the .exe and then you can select the 2. monitor ( The Rift ).

Ill try that!

I was able to get the star wars battle of endor to work because it starts in a windowed mode. I dragged it to the right into the field of view of the goggles and bam....VR. Only thing a bit tough is that you can barely see the edges all around.

Have you tried setting the RIFT as the primary monitor from your Nvidia control panel? You need to do this before the game runs. If the game has a launcher, do this after the launcher opens.

I did try it. For some weird reason the game then shifted to monitor 2...its like it chases my monitor wherever it is to display itself there.

Whenever you change the screen set up, don't forget you'll get a question asking "Are you sure? Did this work?" Hitting the 'y' key on the keyboard answers this. The option will actually appear inside the rift's view, even if you can't see it. Potentially this could be why.

I've also heard people mention they have less troubles when the rift (as a monitor) is positioned to the left of your main monitor.

I'll try that as well.

I did hold the left CNTRl key while double clicking and never got an option for choosing the monitor.

So far I can only get the VR to work if I window the program and drag it to the #2 slot on the left of the #1 monitor.

I have yet to open a program that directly goes the the goggles and I have never gotten any 'direct to goggles' to work. Extended is my only option and windowing the program.

While you have the Demo windowed, hit the Windows+Shift+Left or Right Arrows to move it from monitor to monitor (including the DK2). When you get the windowed Demo in to the Dk2 display, hit Alt+Enter to maximize the window.

I would also recommend:

1: Enter your Windows Display Properties
2: Drag your DK2 Monitor ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT, past all your other monitors.
3: Do NOT set the DK2 as the primary Monitor

I have this set up, and it works like a charm. When my Demos show up on the wrong monitor, I just use the Windows+Shift+Left Arrow until I get the Demo on my DK2. Then I use Alt+Enter to maximize (If I need to) 😄

If those don't work then:

1: Download Bilago's Service Manager
https://developer.oculusvr.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=11395&hilit=service+manager
2: Open the Service Manager
3: Click on and install the "Context Adapter"
4: Leave the Service Manager on
5: Find the EXE file of the demo you want to launch (preferably the DirectToRift.EXE)
6: Right Click on the EXE
7: Choose "Open on Oculus Rift"

Hope that helps! 😄

Trying your first step...before doing so I downloaded and got working the Oculus Runtime Utility and ran into a new issue...

When trying to install the context adapter I got an error saying....

Application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission contact your system administrator or use the microsoft .net framework config tool. I d/l'd the tool and have it open but I don't know what to enable or how to enable it. lol.

Thank you for all your help.
