Personally I'd buy it now. If you wait until May they MIGHT only cut the price to $349/£349 (but I'm expecting £299/£299 myself). $50 worth of Oculus Store credit is nothing to be sniffed at and if you get it before the Anniversary Sale ends you can spend it on one of the packs that are part of the promotion.

They could certainly AFFORD to drop the sensor price but at the current price it's affordable and they're probably making at least 50% profit on each one sold. They're already selling the headset and controllers at cost and have spent half a billion dollars on funding developers so it's only fair that they make some money SOMEWHERE lol 😛

Yup. They're basically black and white webcams with filters on. They're probably making more than 50% profit from each one sold tbh.
I ended up getting an extra set of Touch controllers rather than getting the standalone sensor. You don't get a USB extension but I had a couple lying around anyway and got myself a spare set of Touch controllers just in case I smack my original ones to pieces by hitting a wall or door lol
Just made more sense to me.

Yup, they are IR cameras but also have Bluetooth and antennas inside so they can all connect to the HMD and synchronise.
