ive 4 ss usb does this make a difference to usb 3.0

I think USB 2.0 will work, and should not effect the clearness of the screen.

I'm actually not sure there is any defect. You may just have high expectations. The screen won't look as good as a 1080P monitor since it's about the same pixels blown up over a much bigger area. So what you are seeing may be normal.
