You need the whole set (the HMD, the inputs, and the base station) for anything to function as intended, so I don't see them selling the HMD separately, and if it's not going to be sold separately giving the price for just the HMD makes as much sense as Microsoft releasing the cost of the Xbox One at launch without including the cost of the Kinect.
