Guys the Rift S may as well be discontinued.  They have not fixed much of the issues ( do a search for the issues yourself.....I am not your maid thank you ) and it appears that all of the Version Releases and Feature Releases are QUEST related and NOTHING for the Rift S.

You may as well just get a Quest and an OFFICIAL Link cable and be done with it.

But still.. why would I want to buy device with inferior screen quality and much worse comfort?.. I just need a flagship device from oculus to PCVR. They didn't remove it from the website, didn't write about the interruption of this line of devices. They wrote something about quests, but nothing about rift s on facebook page.. 😞

LCD screens on rift S....OLED on Quest.  The Quest has the better screen technology.

Boys....I am free. Don’t give up. I was watching the Best Buy site and refreshed the page to see it was in stock. After trying to add to cart and checkout, it kept telling me “sorry, we just found out this item is out of stock”. I kept trying over and over again and finally it went through and after putting all my information in I placed my order and I was successful. The best part is i’ve only been trying to get the Oculus Rift for a few days now ?. I see a lot of you guys struggling and I think the best way to get the Oculus Rift is to just watch the Best Buy site until it’s available. Wish you guys the best of luck!

Well every person who was able to get one got it off of best buy, but everyone from EU that isn't able to order via best buy is still sitting here. I lost hope, trying a few days, I wish. I am sitting here every full hour refreshing the site till I go to bed but no restock on the official site and that since over three weeks. Whatever it is, it's not how a company should treat their potential customers.

If I were you I would go to the NowInStock website and join the Oculus Rift S restock discord, It gives you a notification for when the Oculus Rift S is restocked to any of the websites! They usually restock on early Tuesdays, so watch out for that. The do often restock throughout the week too. I wish you the best of luck!

Only been at this a week, with no luck.  I am honestly considering just going with the Index and waiting the 2 weeks to get it.  Anybody else try the index or have any comparisons?  Games ]outside of Half Life have to be good or worth it at least.  Any thoughts peeps?

If you can buy Index then go for it! It is better than Rift S on all. It looks like Oculus is about to abandon Rift S maybe?

I’m on a “budget” pick so the oculus rift s is a no brainer for me.  But if you have 1k then go for the index.  The controllers are better as well as tracking.  Just be aware that for you to get the full power of the resolution and 120-144 refresh rate your pc needs to have better than average specs.  I’ve had the rift s and it’s been great.  The resolution, tracking, and refresh rate have been pretty good in half life.  I recommend rift s for those with a smaller budget but shoot for index if you can

LCD screens on rift S....OLED on Quest.  The Quest has the better screen technology.

I can see you have not tried both headsets. Oled have two subpixels matrix on screen while LCD have three subpixels. This is why even smaller resolution (rift s vs quest) have A LOT better clarity and less screen door effect. Next time first read about technology and real reviews then you can talk about it. Not only me tried both (look for the reviews) and anyone says the same - quest have worse screen even if have oled. Of course blacks are superior than rift s but this is only one thing. I want better clarity with half good blacks than no clarity with big screen door effect and only good blacks (not in link because of compressed blacks are not that cool like they are in native :))

Do you think why index have LCD and not the oled? Why developers said next technology will be micro LED and not "superb oled"? Because oled is literally not good for VR because of subpixels. Man, rift s have A LOT better screen (only blacks are not so good)

Just read more about display differences: https://smartglasseshub.com/vr-headset-display-comparison/

"The key ideas for you to take along – LCD screens with RGB stripe have 1/3 times more subpixels (for the same resolution). This contributes to a sharper overall image and less screen-door effect. On the other hand, OLED displays (PenTile subpixel arrangement) are able to output darker blacks and more vivid colors (whereas the image from LCD might seem more “washed out”)"

"
Subpixel count is much more predictive about the sharpness and image clarity you might expect from a headset compared to resolution (and regular pixel count) alone.

Take the Oculus Quest (OLED PenTile) and Valve Index (LCD RGB), for example. While the output resolution of the headsets is the same (1440 x 1600), the Index has 33% more subpixels (6.9M vs 4.6M) and in reality, is able to output a much sharper overall image."

I see Oculus Go - 64 GB is able to be bought right now on the oculus site... still nothing for the rift s.  😐

Well, that was weird. I just ordered the Rift S.

On the page Basket, I saw only Go and Quest products. Quest had the 64MB version "Add to Basket", the rest out of stock. After clicking "Add to Basket" it allowed me to choose a delivery country. I changed from United States to United Kingdom as the price was in USD. I then removed it from my basket. At this point I then came to a page which had the Rift S available, so I added it to the basket and bought it.

Having looked around the site a bit more at various pages, it seems that the site is a bit confused about stock based on location. I think by selecting the delivery country in the basket it changed my location and so more became available to me.

Try what I did. The usual product page was showing "notify me" when I got lucky. I clicked cart/basket and added a quest. Looked at the basket and changed from US delivery to UK delivery. I then removed the quest and on the next page it offered me the Rift S to buy. It was as if altering my delivery location changed the stock availability. I could have been lucky, but I have ordered one, so just waiting for it to arrive now. Best of luck, will let you know if/when it arrives.

I've had an update and it's on its way via Yodel. ?
