i want to buy an oculus rift s but its currently out of stock everywhere, amazon, microsoft, best buy and oculus themselves. has facebook stopped production of their oculus products because of the coronavirus? does anyone have any idea when ill get a chance to buy them again?
I've been trying since last tue, it will come up for a split second on third party sites(best buy, walmart, etc) but it will be gone a lot of times before i can even check out...almost had it today from best buy but had a snafu with my wife's card and that time it took for me to get the code from her it was gone.....lol it was because I fat fingered it on my phone, its like when im at my browser I cant catch a break but soon as i step away there it is....
ok, just got mine from best buy, a couple tips that helped me kind of beat the rush purchase of the "this item is no longer available" by the time i get to checkout: 1.log into the site and have the item in your cart, it helps to have it saved too so you can see it on your checkout screen for stock info
2. have payment method already saved to login so you can just click checkout, shipping and billing addy's checked and inputs already populated.
3. patience of refreshing, you have to do steps 1 and 2 on your phone so that you can do it if away from comp, then just good ol' diligence and waiting, best buy populated more of the item than walmart, in the week i was looking oculus, lenovo and newegg never populated for me, but it was late tue and I finally got mine from best buy today so im not sure what times they show up on tue, but best buy tended to populate one or two in the morning, then two or three more throughout the afternoon, by late evening I didnt get any hits, and i'm in a coding bootcamp right now so im on the comp like 12-14hrs a day. **also repeat steps on your phone and have the sites up when you are away from comp**
hope this helps, i tried to be as detailed as possible so that its not this magical rng thing...it kinda is but the more prepared you are to make the purchase you can give yourself a better shot ^-^ also people (while totally valid in our capitalist society) are dicks for marking up the product like that so high from the manufacturers original retail price, makes me want to buy a bunch and drive the market down to cut into their profiting off gamers...but i could be biased...
In the UK the Rift S is "in stock" on Amazon, but I wouldn't recommend getting it from there as it's only available from third party sellers (which invalidates the Oculus warranty) at a significant markup.
4th RIFT. 3 CV1s All ear phones break within few months of unboxing. 1 Replaced (but not under warranty WTF) RIFT S Purchased 27th July 2020 lost MIC 30th August 2020 - yes a month after unboxing. OCULUS products suck and support DONT CARE
