Hi,
I am a beginner developer trying to figure some things out. I want to make a virtual version of my room using the Meta Quest 3 scan technology and then load that room into unity. So that someone from somewhere else, can load up my room in their VR-Headset. I have watched a lot of videos on YT and read a few articles, but cant seem to find a way to do this. Would appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction 🙂

ARKIO. Maybe this will help. You can load the scanned part into the program and then turn it into a 3D model that you can save to a file in the helmet that you can transfer to the computer. I have Quest 2 so there is only a model like rectangles because only Quest 2 can do this. Maybe with Quest 3 it will be exactly what you are looking for.
PS:
The free version only allows exporting in OBJ format. For a paid, you can also export in Unity format.
Select menu "passthrough" and then "import from device". Also load what you scanned with the helmet. Then go to "scene" in the menu and select "export".

Thank you very much, I tried the free version and exported as a OBJ, and it did work. I got my roomscan, however the whole room including the furniture was registered as one object. I was wondering if it is the same case with the paid version. If the paid version offers furniture recognition, i would be more than happy to pay for that. Any experience with that?

For nothing. Judging from the website, it only works with rectangular objects. It says that there is a program for this, but it only exports a mesh of triangles without a texture, and it's not a particularly pretty sight. Well, that's understandable because if the mesh is quite precise, it will make the helmet's work difficult. After all, it doesn't have the computing power of a regular computer. It's best to use a phone, such as an iPhone, which has pretty decent capabilities with 3D model applications by scanning or taking a picture of the room and then using a program to make a 3D model. I made models of the main furniture without the small details, because no matter how good the scan is, small things like cables, pens, and such will always look bad. "RealityCapture" It works quite fast, but requires an Nvidia video card. Another programs for making models from photos is COLMAP and MeshRoom. COLMAP there is also an alternative for computers without a video card at Nvidia called ColMap-CL. The app for the helmet itself we're talking about is the one from the link below, but I haven't tested it because I don't have a Quest 3.
