Can anyone let me know if you have had to return your Brand New Meta Quest 3 Headset to Meta because it just stopped working for no reason? I am literally now on my 4th headset replacement (all refurbished replacements) in 4 months of buying my original! The last replacement lasted for exactly 4 days before it stopped working. 4 days of use and now it has to be returned again. I am wondering if I am the only one experiencing this or is it something that is happening to others?

The issue got media’s attentions

It is an annoying issue. Mine was "dead" in summer infinity boot loop, factory reset and sideload did not help. Was about to run rma, but rested days later, for no reason it worked again.
But recently it is happening again. I have requested a RMA as well. Let’s see how this works or it is working again before RMA
Meta should look into the issue seriously 😒

I doubt how much the swiss cheese option would help. I have a an interface which allow air circulation. It did well with sweat vapor. Like this
It seems it should be a combination of all solutions, better air circulation and sweat absorption.
for sure the best would be if the headset is produced with certain IP rating level. Little chance we can see this in Quest 3 but Quest 4 maybe?!

I have a Q2 & Q3S and a Q3 Ordered online. The 3S has been used since xmas without an issue. It's facial interface is a foam material unlike the picture above the looks more solid. Also the holes where it attaches have a bottom. So I'm not sure where the sweat is getting in. The facial interface looks more absorbant and the holes don't go through into the headset itself. We do more gaming but do play beat saber which does work up a sweat.

@teesnjees @CosmicMeerkat5770 @Kong777 @HiighZenBurg @pk165271 @MainMan68 this one slipped under the radar. There is now an official quest 3 open interface which will be better than most other solutions to stop sweat vapour killing your headset electronics and still stay on your face.

Thanks for this information - however I feel the immersive experience and environment would be lost with an open interface. Would you agree? One of the reasons I got a VR headset was for the full VR experience. I think a better option is a fix to the headset to prevent the system from being exposed to vapors. As I mentioned before. Many people use this for vigorous exercise- and it is marketed to be used as such. A fix to the headset is in order. Second perhaps a mesh interface like the one for 3S would be another option.

@teesnjees I can understand your desire for complete immersion, which you sadly have to balance against a working headset. Perhaps a darkened room with the open interface or add your own mesh to the open interface using pieces of black tights/stockings/pantyhose.

Meta made a breathable one for the 3S, perhaps they will make it for other models

So my household has a Q2, Q3 & Q3S. The Q2 has been having head tracking issues and after a factory reset today, it did an update and already had the bad version. Now it works good.

So glad to hear that @CosmicMeerkat5770 - my issue was moisture in the headset due to working out, so I have a new 3rd party face mask that is breathable and I insure no sweat touches the inside of the headset. Seems to be working for now! I think the Q3S was made now for people who workout - as its face mask is breathable. All the best.

Thanks @oculusness - you have been amazing in helping me with solutions. I bought a 3rd party breathable face mask and now insure not a drop of sweat touches the device - and all has been well since. Now they just need to build them with seals to prevent water particles from getting in. All the best!
