A few questions about vr gaming

There are a lot of options, so i have a few questions i hope people can answer?

  1. What headset had the best vr experience regardless of pricing?

  2. What is the best vr game and on what platform can i play it for example is it a meta or ps exclusive?

  3. What store does Pico 4 use? Is it just SteamVR?

  4. Is there any reason or benefits to get the higher priced vr headset in the 1000€ class like valve index instead of a standalone headset like meta quest 3? Can you use SteamVR on those standalone headset without any restrictions or downsides like the valve index?

  5. Are games like ac nexus or resident evil 4 remake forever exclusive?

Pico has its own store with games just for the Pico. You can also play SteamVR games on it if you are connected to a PC (there's no stand alone SteamVR support).

The Meta Quest series works the same way, there's the Quest store for Quest only games, or you can play SteamVR games when connected to a PC.

Pretty much all PC based headsets support SteamVR (like WMR headsets, Rifts, etc).

Some advantages of an Index over a Quest 3:

- better tracking coverage

- better sound

- headset never runs out of power (no battery, it always needs a cable)

- has a video cable, so less compression artifacts

- maybe better controllers (I've never tried the Index controllers, but on paper they sound better than Quest 3)

Some advantages of a Quest 3 over an Index:

- higher resolution (2064x2208 vs 1440x1600)

- bigger software library (Index officially only has SteamVR and OpenXR games. Quest 3 has SteamVR, OpenXR, Rift and Quest games)

- much larger area tracking (Index needs base stations around the area, I can just walk outside with my Quest 3 on and it still works)

- supports both stand alone and PC connected gaming (wireless or usb cable)
