24/10/2014 UPDATE: Affected 1.5 is now released! Thanks for your support everyone, its really appreciated and keeps us little devs going.

I will be announcing Affected 2 in the coming months which will utilize the Unreal Engine.

If any of you guys have a spare moment to vote for Affected on the share platform it would be greatly appreciated. Any extra viability is always great 😄

UPDATE: Just wanted to pop by and say a BIG THANKS to everyone for all the support and kind words. Its been a bit of a whirlwind the past few weeks with emails flying in left right and center, let alone my day to day job being quite demanding the past week.

Affected - The Horror Experience is not your average horror game. Designed specifically with the Oculus Rift in mind, you are transported to three different terrifying scenarios. There are no keys to find, pieces of paper to locate or mazes to get lost in, think of it as a modern day haunted house.

I really hope you enjoy the experience and if you feel like donating, then any amount would be appreciated to help fund my Unity Pro licence. It would also go towards the blood, sweat and tears that where poured into this development :ugeek: . Details can be found on the Fallen Planet Website.

Anyone else avoid getting too close to the doors in the asylum? I was sure the window would slide open to reveal something horrific peering out at me...

Indeed the best horror experience for the Rift. Love the atmosphere. But very intense. In fact, so intense that when one of the jumpscares got me, I screamed so loud my wife rushed in from the backyard to see if I was doing okay. I have played all the Amnesia games but doing horror with the Rift is a whole new experience. You can't duck away from the screen 😄

One other option to include: Horror Ride Mode. As it sounds, you're not in control of moving around the game, but you're free to look around at everything. The game will ensure the main area of focus will always be in front by turning your slowly as well as moving you forward. To help sell the sensation, have different transport modes similar to the wheelchair in the asylum level. Maybe a floating chair in The Manor and a wooden bench for The Carnival.

Main benefit for this mode is to demo it to more people. If they don't have to worry about the controller, they can get right into the game and don't have to worry about looking for the correctPlus, it makes it like a theme park ride. I don't know if it'd be more or less scary, but it'll be simpler to experience.

I like that idea. Was always a battle setting up scares so they did not get missed. The next game is moving somewhat away from horror, and will be more of a game. Im hoping to have the full plot drawn up and some concept art created by the end of the month!

V1.2 is now live with a few adjustments to the scare timings.

I just really want to point out Affected is a complete proof of concept and a project for me to learn Unity really. My next title will have full interactivity, VR mechanics and originality oozing from it! 😄

Just one idea that came into my mind when you talked about those theme parks:
One level that would take place in a theme park, you walk through a generic, bad haunted house, but inside something goes wrong and everything becomes "real".

And great to see you updating frequently

@mpaul0055, I thought I saw somewhere that you are planning crowdfunding campaign but can't find it. I'm allocating a donation for when you start crowdfunding, and it doesn't matter what project it is or if it's horror, as long as you're the developer! But if you're not planning to crowdfund, let me know and I'll just donate now instead.

I was finally able to try this out tonight. The praise everyone has given it is well justified. It's fantastic. My first reaction when I saw it was "please not another flashlight horror game" This is so well done, I don't mind the tropes at all. I find myself nervously laughing when I play. Jump scares make me sh1t myself, but then I'll laugh and say "that was good". They work on me even when I expect them. The atmosphere is so well done that, you're an easy target for anything. Kudos to the creator(s). This is the kind of experience I've been waiting to see on the Rift.
