Story: "Sent from an alternate dimension, SenTRI corporation robots are occupying various locations on Earth and are preparing for an all out AI takeover. There is only one person left to put an end to this...
Half human, half machine, you are equipped with a mechanical arm that gives special time bending powers, while in the other hand wielding a selection of deadly weapons. Blast your way through the underground facility, smashing robot skulls and going in guns blazing. Can you reach the Central AI Core? Can Earth still be saved?"
- and I guess we all remember this awesome video from December 2018 - only 3 years ago 😉
For some time this game was listed as Vive/Index only - but Rift is now also supported.

The devs just wrote about the new stuff:
"So new stuff compared to that old trailer:
Manual gun reloading
Improved enemy AI
Rocket Boost move that lets you jump around
Improved level design (each level will have a specific objective)
Redesigned HUD
Improved lighting
Menu with options to configure personal playstyle
More music
(also some stuff from that trailer is still in the game, but isn't featured in the demo level, like some of the puzzles)"

Really excited about this - but the wife wants to go shopping for groceries, sigh - I guess becoming a half-robot will have to ... wait 😁

Just took a few shots (click to enlarge )
I'm partly human, therefore the blood 😉
Right hand looks great
Left robo-arm looks even better
There's full Index finger tracking
Pistol looks great - nice laser sight too
The machine gun, loaded 🙂
Shotgun - placed on your back
Sometimes you just know it's Monday... 😉
This didn't end well - but you can save the game when you want, like in Alyx
Texture quality is great, even if it's generally not Boneworks' ultramersion quality
An example of textures and lighting
High polygon ceiling (or could some bump mapping or tessellation, who knows... it surely looks awesome)
Just some stairs - but nice textures
Sometimes the song "Should I Stay or Should I Go" starts playing in my mind...
Probably should have left, lol
I had some fun with the demo - the rocket jump is great and being able to shoot (and jump) through glass is nice. It leaves marks when you shoot surfaces and objects. You have an ammo belt - and can also find armour, health packages etc. (does feel slightly Doom-ish, but with a slower pace - there are several secret areas too). You can climb certain pipes, stairs and more.
Started with res 500% and 4xMSAA - that worked surprisingly fine, but lost the 90 fps when many enemies were around me - ended up using SteamVR res 300% + 4xMSAA (I left the in-game res slider at default 100% and used SteamVR res to control the res). I needed to restart the game for a new SteamVR res to take effect. Using a RTX 3090. The game seems nicely optimized, will probably run great using a GTX 1080 with res 150% and 2xMSAA (maybe even 4xMSAA).
Index controls were nice - but restarting the demo my settings for always run and smooth turning were not saved, but graphics settings were saved. The game looked great with lcd, didn't feel any need for oled.
There aren't that many first person's shooters in VR. Enemies did seem somewhat repetitive, but fun to take them out with head shots. Looking forward to the full game.
