Dear [Entity Name],
I am writing to bring your attention to a serious consumer protection issue affecting thousands of Meta Quest 2 virtual reality headset owners. A recent official software update from Meta has rendered numerous devices completely inoperable ("bricked"), with no possibility of recovery through standard troubleshooting methods including factory reset attempts.
The affected devices:
Meta's official response has been to only replace units still under warranty, leaving many consumers with expensive paperweights due to a manufacturer-pushed software update. This appears to be a clear case of manufacturer negligence resulting in widespread device failure.

Got my son a new Quest 3S for Christmas and the initial update bricked the device. He took it off while it was updating and it went to sleep mid update. Never to wake again. I tried to hard reset, then factory reset, then got a message that the firmware was corrupt and cannot be trusted. I can only get into the USB update mode, but it boot loops back to the same screen no matter what selection I make. Not even possible to fix with the sideload method using my PC. Meta just said they know about the issue and will let me know when they have a solution. It's going back to Amazon for a replacement today, before the return window closes.
He got another one (3S) at his mom's house and I told him to keep it on his head while it updates. He did and that one seems to be working just fine. So it seems it may be something to do with the proximity sensors and the device going into sleep mode during the update.

there's an issue with a current update that's causing the headsets to be unresponsive. Please keep your eye on the thread below for any official updates from meta. Add your voice to the thread.
