EDIT: 10/09/2014
Now original full game works on DK2 ! Trick discovered on Reddit.
Instructions:
1) in ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML (found in the DATA folder) change the stereo options to:

<Setting name="Stereo Mode">
<Quality name="Rift" precedence="4"/>
</Setting>

2) Set the Oculus to extended mode.

3) In the oculus configuration utility pause the service.

4) Start the game.

Alien: Isolation

This was our Creative Lead, Al Hope, trying out a prototype experience of Alien: Isolation on Oculus Rift a few days ago. Tomorrow, at E3, this will be available on the Oculus Rift stand. For those brave enough to give it a go, of course... #RoadToE3

So, does anyone figured how to deal with CPU SSE4.1 problem and not to cover camera to maintain positional tracking?

I think I called this in the other thread, didn't I? 😄 That the game would launch with some deep option to turn on the Rift? I don't think it works the same way it did in the demo they did, though. Still, better than nothing.

Not sure my ticker could take it, though.. the game's intense enough as it is.

I was having a problem running Alien: Isolation, as it would show all the opening logos just fine, but would crash when it was time for the title screen. Covering up the camera didn't help. If I unplugged the camera, it would work, but then of course there's no positional tracking. It turns out that Alien: Isolation didn't like having the camera attached to a USB 3.0 port. I moved it to a USB 2.0 port, and now the game works with positional tracking. Of course, I still have to try the fixes for judder, but at least it's not crashing. Just thought I'd mention this here in case anyone else had camera-related crashes that weren't responding to other fixes.

I've made a short gameplay-test video, describing some of the problems you may get, based on my experience.

You can check it out on

... i also tried to make it fun and without spoiling the game 😛

settings > SSAO OFF and check your system spec is upto it. Mine just about runs it (and that's overclocked to ti Speeds). It's mostly judder free (When I was playing it) if you have a good system and set the settings right.

oh unless you have one of those CPUs that have problems with the old SDK!!

Runs fine on mine, there is a little judder but not enough to make me stop playing. The screen tilt is whats killing me though..

If you need to grab some extra fps you can add an even lower LOD setting to ENGINE_SETTINGS.XML. I have a GTX 970 but I'm CPU bound on the framerate so this helped to use the "very low" setting you see here.

<Setting name="Level of Detail">
<Quality name="Ultra" float="1.0" precedence="5"/>
<Quality name="High" float="0.9" precedence="4"/>
<Quality name="Medium" float="0.75" precedence="3"/>
<Quality name="Low" float="0.6" precedence="2"/>
<Quality name="Very Low" float="0.25" precedence="1"/>
</Setting>

Below 0.25 and you start to get some ridiculous pop-in.

On a brief side note - can anyone tell me how to access the Nostromo ship please? I have paid for the extra DL content but can't find it in the menu?

It is on the main menu screen. It is called "Crew Expendable."
