Hello,
We have created RiftCoaster HD, for DK2. Its on UE4 engine so it looks a little different.

UPDATE:
NEW! v0.3 with detail level configuration window.
http://www.vrone.pl/?page_id=255
Performance Oriented (LQ) alpha v0.25, some fixes applied
http://www.vrone.pl/?page_id=255
You should get better FPS (check by using F key). PLAY ON FULLSCREEN.

You can download older alpha 0.2 from here: https://mega.co.nz/#!iE0wAJDL!PRfDr5qUZveYAzZ_OlWrp2_ADvKqQwhxnhIlsa7P8no

There are some things that we would like to do before final release. But you can test it now and give us some feedback.
That's how it looks like atm

Original RiftCoaster (1) was created by Boone Calhoun.

Rift Coaster HD is a tribute to legendary RiftCoaster demo for Oculus DK1. We loved it, and we want to run it on DK2 as well, thats why we made it.
"Boone gave us a choice; Rift Coaster DK2 or SDK .4... (he was kidding.. there was no choice).
That said; I'd love to see it. I don't think he'd mind if you (or anyone) made your own Rift Coaster. Helix and Cyberspace are awesome rides and I suspect we could get even more rides in the future."

I'm getting 35-50fps on a GTX 980 and the experience is awful. Not sure how on earth you were getting 50+ on a 560. Did you actually have a Rift to test it on? Because that framerate only sounds plausible if you're not playing in stereo.

Are you in direct or extend. I get a terrible experience on direct but extended whilsy not perfect is much better on my gtx670
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR 🙂

You are tottaly right, i was testing it without rift on gtx 560 and it's incomparable. Without vsync you can get even better framrate in "mono" mode, but in stereo mode on rift it falls down to 20-25. Sorry for the misunderstanding, my bad. I couldnt test it earlier on that PC with Oculus. It was tested on the other one.

Now good news, alpha 0.25 is now performance oriented, feel free to download it.

We are still working on it, its still alpha that is why is not perfect... Please be understanding and patient, we are doing what we can. Thank you for great feedback guys! Please write us your configuration and frame rate you get now (F key). If you have any suggestions, tell us.

I'm grabbing this latest version to see if the performance is better.
The last build was totally unplayable for me - literally 1 frame per 5 seconds - just crazy.
Other demos work fine (the ones that actually load) so I know my rig is half decent.
Had the same issue with Senza Peso demo as well - very juddery performance.
Loved this demo on the DK 1 though - it was pretty cool.

Just tried the newest download. I had lots of judder when looking around. I have an i5 and a Geforce 980. Not sure if there was a recenter key or not. I kept drifting out of the coaster chair.

Still, even after I've thought that no roller coasters can affect me anymore this one made my stomach kinda queasy on the big drop (yay!) It was fun. Smooth frame rate when looking around and a recenter key and this is will be a blast! Good work so far.

hi

i appreciate your work on this. it is great however i must admit...

in the last version i had awful stutter on direct but extended was stuttery but usable.

in the new version, it is true direct IS much improved but still unusable... added to that extended now stutters more to the point of not usable.

just my experiences.. mind you my pc is fairly low end - andy i5 4.35ghz and GTX670OC
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR 🙂

First post here so be kind.

No disrespect to the authors at all. The original was my favorite demo on the DK1 so I'm so grateful that they've taken the time to do this demo. Especially since I don't have any useful skills to contribute to the community myself.

So anyone with a DK2 knows it's unusable in either the 0.2 or 0.25 form due to "judder." I'm assuming the authors didn't have a DK2 to actually test with.

To fix this try this:
In the game get the command line (press ` - the back single quote key)
Type: hmd sp 75
Press enter.

For me now 0.25 is now perfect 75 FPS all the time (check with ` stat fps).
0.20 looks great, but can't always keep up 75 FPS all the time.
This with a 4790K + 780Ti.

Hope this works for others and helps someone.

As a request for features, the 0.2 version is actually better for me in a couple of ways. The graphics quality is beautiful (though taxing on the system), and more importantly the head pointing actually follows the cart, just like it should in real life. Yes I understand the historical reasons it was not that way under UDK, and the reason people who get motion sickness don't like it.

So what would be perfect is to have the choice for things like graphics settings and head orientation.

But I'm already having a lot of fun so thanks so much! And thanks to whoever posted that tip in the first place for some other game - I can't remember where it's from to give proper credit.

Hello,
thanks for feedback. We are working on it. Its still alpha so expect that it will be usable in future release.

Rbarnes, as i told we were testing it on Oculus DK2 on a really strong PC, only some tests on med/low-end PC (gtx560) were without rift that is why i don't count on them. We will do our best to make it work with higher frame rate.

Actually, we added command hmd sp 100 to 0.25 to make it run faster, you can try with lowering it even more: ~, hmd sp 75.

You can also try hitting L or U key in 0.25 (low, ultra low, H - is for settings used in 0.2, F- frame rate )

When I try to play on DK2 (with direct HMD mode) I get an horrible black line half of the screen. Like if the screens were divided. How can I fix this?
