Hello,
We have created RiftCoaster HD, for DK2. Its on UE4 engine so it looks a little different.

UPDATE:
NEW! v0.3 with detail level configuration window.
http://www.vrone.pl/?page_id=255
Performance Oriented (LQ) alpha v0.25, some fixes applied
http://www.vrone.pl/?page_id=255
You should get better FPS (check by using F key). PLAY ON FULLSCREEN.

You can download older alpha 0.2 from here: https://mega.co.nz/#!iE0wAJDL!PRfDr5qUZveYAzZ_OlWrp2_ADvKqQwhxnhIlsa7P8no

There are some things that we would like to do before final release. But you can test it now and give us some feedback.
That's how it looks like atm

Original RiftCoaster (1) was created by Boone Calhoun.

Rift Coaster HD is a tribute to legendary RiftCoaster demo for Oculus DK1. We loved it, and we want to run it on DK2 as well, thats why we made it.
"Boone gave us a choice; Rift Coaster DK2 or SDK .4... (he was kidding.. there was no choice).
That said; I'd love to see it. I don't think he'd mind if you (or anyone) made your own Rift Coaster. Helix and Cyberspace are awesome rides and I suspect we could get even more rides in the future."

To fix this try this:
In the game get the command line (press ` - the back single quote key)
Type: hmd sp 75
Press enter.

This does seem to help in direct mode (judging from my monitor). However, hitting enter after entering it into the console locks up the video in the Rift. Any ideas?

I'm still getting horrendously low FPS even with the 0.25
I'm running an i5 4670, 16gb, GTX770. 22-30fps max.
Any ideas anyone? Would love to get this up to even 50fps.

Hmmm, I'd been doing this in extended. Messing around with direct tonight and see just what you see. I believe that you can achieve the same effect by directly adjusting it in the .ini file.

In .\RiftCoasterHD\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Engine.ini change ScreenPercentage to something lower. 75 worked for me.

Hello,
Rbarnes, as i told we were testing it on Oculus DK2 on a really strong PC, only some tests on med/low-end PC (gtx560) were without rift that is why i don't count on them. We will do our best to make it work with higher frame rate.

I'm sure it's going to be great and no criticism of the work so far. I was just trying to give a tip to others who are having trouble to get what we currently have working in some way.

I was able to give the first demo of the DK2 to some people and was very happy to be able to show them what was my favorite demo in the original DK. Thanks so much for your hard work!

Windows 8.1 x64, i7 4790k, GTX 970.

Extended: 14-36 fps, mostly ~28fps
Direct: 30-50fps, mostly ~40fps

If if lower the settings by pressing L or U in Direct mode the picture on the rift freezes, though the game still works fine on the monitor. After switching to often it finally crashes.

New update. Version 0.3 available. http://www.vrone.pl/?page_id=255
Now you can set detail level.
@Bccc1 I get more in Extended mode, then in Direct. In Direct on low i have ~40 in extended 60.
Please try v0.3 and tell me how it works 🙂

is it just me or does this feel like im like 5 inches tall on a seat. like my field of view is down low at the seat level.

Nice project, I'd like to show some people this but can't, I am getting terrible CPU and GPU utilisation.

Running 2x GTX780 AMP's and an I7 4790k over clocked.

Disabling hyper threading doesn't make any difference, disable SLI, direct or non direct mode, open on rift, primary or secondary display in full screen - terrible jitter and poor FPS.

Low or EPIC has no difference on FPS.

Running windows 8.1 64.

So I managed to get this running, but it needs a lot of optimisation. Low vs Epic definitely impacts FPS, but even low isn't enough to get a constant 75fps on my 970, and on low it looks pretty bad so you wouldn't want to use this setting anyway.

I couldn't find a reset button, and the health and safety warning wouldn't always disappear so: press your tilde ~ or ` key to bring up the console (you may have to click on the window first) and it's hmdpos reset to reset camera and hmd hsw to clear the HSW.

Yea I don't get how anyone can run this without massive judder issues, I have an i7@4ghz with a 3gig R290 and this app chugs at 73frames even on the lowest possible settings and has no change in direct mode or not. Being able to push Assetto Corsa @85+ frames in rift mode at nearly max settings makes me think this is one of the worst optimized demos out there.

If the frame rate can be fixed this would be a great demo but sadly at this point it's not worth showing anyone.

I gave it another try: RiftCoaster HD 0.3 with Oculus Runtime 0.4.3 in direct mode got slightly worse in fps, but the judder feels differently and less sickening. In extended mode though I now get far better framerates. Solid 75fps for ~80% of the track, little drops by ~5fps here and there. If I look to the right at the starting position it drops to ~55fps, but thats the worst case I found.
On medium the framerate drops significantly and the judder gets to masssiv.
