Animated Holiday short "Elf on an Ice Shelf"

Hey guys,

My name is Dan DeEntremont and I am here to share with you an animated holiday short that a small team of talented artists have made here at Muse VFX

Here, you may find links to the animated short in video form (both normal and double-eye versions).

You can download a zip file with the interactive version at the bottom of the page. Here is the direct link to the interactive version. Unfortunately it's PC exclusive as of now.

I was responsible for much of the Unity/Oculus integration, so I should (hopefully) be able to answer any technical questions about the short that may occur to you. However, this was made with Unity, which automates much of the Oculus integration, so my knowledge of the Oculus side is a bit limited.

This short was produced using the DK1 and has been untested for DK2. So actually, any input on the DK2's performance in this would be greatly appreciated!

I got a bit of judder at times on my 780ti, but other than that it worked great. It is of course very short, but it worked well. Good depth, clear colors and fun animations.

I think animated clips may be huge in the rift. BirdyKing Land ( http://www.birdykingland.com/ ) is another great example.

One small thing I noticed is in the beginning of the clip when the title is shown. It's placed in a way that I couldn't figure out what to focus on - the text or the elf, but I couldn't look from on of them to the other in a way that felt natural.

Thanks for sharing! 🙂

Edit: Forgot to mention that I was using a DK2
