Are there any alternatives to steam VR?

My PC runs well when steam VR actually works for the very short time it does. I have a i7 Nvidia GeForce 3050ti 230ghz 16gb ram. I use the meta quest 3 and the oculus software isn't compatible with my PC so I'm forced to use steam VR. Steam VR crashes around 120 times a day, yes I said 120 times a day if on a day I stay in vr from around 8 am to 2 am, yea I pretty much live in vr lmao I use VurtaMate in vr, but steam VR crashes every few minutes and many times more than 5 times a minute.  There has got to be an alternative to this trash. Hell I'd pay $700 for an alternative that would work at this point. I hate steam VR more than anything. Are there any good alternatives to this trash called steam VR?

If you don't want SteamVR and you can't run the oculus software, that limits things a bit.

There was OpenComposite. It was an implementation of the SteamVR api (technically OpenVR) that went more directly to the Oculus runtime. But that won't help you since it needs the Oculus software working.

Now there's OpenComposite OpenXR. It's the same thing as above but directs SteamVR games to OpenXR instead. But for that to work you need an OpenXR runtime, there's only really 3 of those: SteamVR, Oculus and Windows MR. The WMR one only works with WMR headsets, the Oculus one is still the Oculus software and the SteamVR one is what you wanted to avoid.

Which software are you using to connect the Quest 3 to the PC? I'm guessing either Virtual Desktop or SteamLink. Whichever one it is, maybe try the other and see if SteamVR crashes less.

I have tried a few others and I still use vurtal desktop, the thing is, I hate steams VR and as of yesterday I am now banned from using steam, I received a device ban yesterday so I can no longer nor do I want to ever use steam VR.

At the moment the only option I'm aware of to play a SteamVR game without SteamVR or Oculus software is to use OpenComposite OpenXR and buy a Windows Mixed Reality headset like the HP Reverb G2. (Although MS have discontinued WMR and will remove it from future operating systems, and the WMR software is much worse than SteamVR)

Seems like virtual Desktop on the quest (around 20€ in the meta app store) in combination with the streamer app on the PC (free) is the way to go. Note that it requires a fast wifi router ideally with wifi 6 and the PC should be connected to the router via a LAN cable. Some people claim that virtual desktop classic (around 15€ on steam) let's you conntect the quest 3 cia link cable. But officially the meta quest models are not supported.

I was able to get it working, I just had to dramatically turn down the graphics settings, my issue now, is that I have to use literally around 18,000lumins to light up my room for the passthrough on meta quest 3 to be bright enough to do or see anything, it's just too dark even with brightness at max on meta quest 3
