What's the issue with turning off TAA in the ini file? Of course, if you change setting in game it will overwrite your settings.

For now you really can't turn off TAA in Asgard's Wrath (it seems), some dude explained that it's because TAA is connected to effects on medium, high and epic settings. If you use anything but low settings and turn off TAA, then the game doesn't work - you just get a gray/black screen (no visual output).

Using Low settings you can turn off TAA using the engine.ini hack - and now you suddenly get perfect image quality on Rift-S, Index and other lcd hmds. So we have a small project running - both Rift-S and Index owners collaborate, lol, because TAA is simply the worst for lcd HMDs:

https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/dg26oy/asgards_rath_settings_sharpen_temporal_aa_blur/

https://www.reddit.com/r/ValveIndex/comments/dgth19/mission_disable_taa_in_asgards_wrath_while/

Options:
1) You accept the super-blurry TAA on your lcd hmd and just play the game. Maybe go for Medium and crank up ss to the max (without dipping too much below 80/90 fps).
2) Check the link to Reddit Oculus and try to reduce the impact of TAA, while understanding that you cannot get rid of it. That approach didn't work for me - TAA reduced or not, all is still super-blurry.
3) Use Low settings, apply the engine.ini hack, crank up ss to the max, and enjoy perfect image sharpness (texture res is the same using Low and Epic, and now you get the most beautiful and sharp textures possible) - but it'll cost you all the grass in the world, many objects (including mountains/cliffs) and several effects.
4) Use the CV1. TAA gives you perfect anti-aliasing using the CV1, and TAA provides little burden on the gpu - so CV1 image quality is as good as it gets, but of course within the limits of the CV1 hardware (res and SDE). You can crank up ss and play on Epic settings in 90 fps with next to no trouble. Asgard's Wrath provides the best graphics I've seen on the CV1 - it's Lone Echo class.

In perspective: Just tried Epic, High, Medium and Low with TAA on the Index, video quality is really bad, because Index hides nothing - I made a test looking at some apples on a barrel like 30 meters away. Using both Low and Epic it was a blurry mess - but deactivating TAA in engine.ini and using Low + SteamVR 150% res the apples were really sharp. Unfortunately using Low settings the game removes all grass and I lost several mountains/cliffs too (and some sails (cloth animation)), and objects get removed quickly in the distance - and terrain build-up also gets too close.

I'd rather be impressed using the CV1 than constantly be annoyed about the grass and objects missing when having to use Low settings to deactivate TAA. I think that's why the clever dudes at UpLoadVR used CV1 for Asgard's Wrath and ended up awarding the game 100%. Forced to endure TAA on a lcd hmd, I'm not sure I'd agree with a 100% rating - but I just might when using the CV1, because I don't remember any VR game being more impressive than Asgard's Wrath when using the CV1.

PS. Rumor has it that Rift-S owners are able to deactivate TAA also using Medium settings - by using the before mentioned engine.ini hack. This may be a great option, because Medium looks much like Epic meaning you have all objects and grass. Maybe something was lost in translation, it seems Revive users must use Low settings to deactivate TAA.

Asgard's Wrath is now the best PC game among newer releases:

https://www.metacritic.com/browse/games/release-date/new-releases/pc/metascore

Awesome to see a massive VR game in the lead even including the best pancakes!

Hopefully this can provide some platform push!

Now 6 reviews - and still Metascore 93!!  😮

Seems like the resolution slider in Asgard's Wrath provides ss 1.2 (120%) at the max:

https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/dgza96/asgards_wrath_full_resolution_slider_is_actually/

Sanzaru also limited ss to 120% in Marvel Powers United. Placing slider in the middel should be 100%.

Seems like some don't know that there're great tools for controlling ss - using Oculus Tray Tool it's very easy to set like 180% or even 200%. And to verify that you're getting exactly the ss you want using the Oculus Tray Tool Pixel Density HUD.

Maybe something was lost in translation, it seems Revive users must use Low settings to deactivate TAA.

I'm using revive with the hp reverb and medium settings works for me with TAA disabled. Looks super clear and seems to be running at the full 90 so far except in the tavern.

Yeah, I don't get it. The game looks great. I don't notice any blurriness other than the limitation of the HMD.

I get a great performance boost from r.DefaultFeature.AntiAliasing=0, may be very important for Reverb users. I have a hard time noticing what's different comparing Medium and Epic, so you may experience the best combo of image quality and performance with your settings.

The game looks cool! Now before I buy it, it states on the store that sitting mode is supported. Is this true? I don't want to spend many hours standing up! And if so, any problems with the controls? Like do you have to swing your weapon wildly and potentially hitting my desk, I don't have a lot of room here! For example Lone Echo was a perfect 10.0 game for me, sitting mode is supported, controls are perfect, great story, etc.
