I wonder how much of the difficulty is getting the game setup interface, etc working vs. the actual 3D in-car part.  I think having to put on the HMD when you "start" a race and take it off when you finish is a pain, but I'd rather them update the driving itself first then work on the setup interface after that's released.

At this point, just doing that might satisfy quite a lot of people that want VR in AC but, it probably wouldn't be long before they started begging for UI support.  Stefano has talked about a simple option for presets using a controller d-pad in the short term and now that there are more examples of VR UI interfaces being used, perhaps they will find a better solution.

AC was not designed for VR from the get-go and there are some major stumbling blocks in the game-engine that have to be re-worked.

The main stumbling block being Stefano's arrogance and personal dislike of VR.

I won't discount that either but, he may be coming around slowly; it's not the first time he's changed his mind about supporting certain features.  The anti-VR brigade is gaining some strength in the poll now as the gap is narrowing.

VR lead is slipping.
Current top 3 are:

VR support. 1141 votes 24.9%
False starts/Engine stalls 903 votes 19.7%
Brake Temp simulation 814 votes 17.8%

On the Steam forums for Assetto the antiVR brigade are pushing hard against this.

Poll ends 9th April. We need this. 😉

The only other feature I'd really like aside from VR for AC is a better trans/gearbox model but, that wasn't even in the list.  I hope VR can hang in there otherwise, racing in VR will be slim-pickens. 😕

Thanks OP for making me aware of this poll... vote casted... VR at 25.0%

13700K, RTX 4070 Ti, Asus ROG Strix Z790-A Gaming, Corsair H150i Capellix, 64GB Corsair Vengence DDR5, Corsair 5000D Airflow, 4TB Samsung 870 , 2TB Samsung 990 Pro x 2, DK2, CV1, Rift-S, Quest, 2, 3, Pro, Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (10.0.26100)

Even though I've [just] cancelled my Rift order, I voted for & still hope AC gets VR support. Also, if you haven't seen it yet, keep an eye on KartKraft which launches on on Steam early access on 2nd June.

Voting closed today and VR came out on top!

Top Three were:

VR Support - 1195 votes - 25%

False starts/Engine stall - 932 votes - 19.5%

Brake temp simulation - 846 votes - 17.7%

Stefano had this to say:

"Well the poll is finally closed eek

I hope it was an educating experience for everybody, it surely was for me confused
Hopefully many people that thought their pet feature was going to be
the obvious winner (myself included) got a different reality to accept
now.. some of us will, some of us will continue thinking their opinion
is somehow more valuable than others.. I have no sympathy for these
people and I wish you a safe and quick recovery from your grandeur
illusions.

The good news is that most of the stuff in this poll is already under
development and it should arrive in AC sooner or later, so there is
really no loser.

thx for all the people that voted.. it's always reassuring to have so
many of you willing to interact with us, the only result that I didn't
want to see was a winner with 16 votes p .. luckily it didn't happen.
"

No losers here, so hoping for a VR update in the near future.

LOL@ the guys that suggested the next top two features should be combined together so VR would lose.  It really shouldn't surprise us as they just don't know what they are missing without VR support but, we do. 🙂
