Note - we've reduced the price of Asunder. We've posted our thanks to early supporters on our website.

==========
The day is upon us! Asunder: Earthbound is available NOW!
Visit our newly launched Aldin Dynamics Store for details.

Asunder: Earthbound is a short and dark cinematic adventure game set in a fictional 1930′s universe aboard a passenger airplane. Strange things occur as the story unfolds which require the player to act quickly if he wants to survive. The player needs to discover his place in the world, picking up clues in the environment and figuring out the best course of action based on his observations and in-game events.

  • Communicate with characters using natural head-gestures.

  • Use direction of gaze to procedurally control your virtual body.

  • Uniquely designed for VR, integrating Rift sensors and stereoscopic displays directly into gameplay.

  • Includes extra mini-scenes which feature some horrifying, humorous, relaxing & atmospheric experiences.

This short experience is a stand-alone game, gameplay time ranging from 20-45 minutes depending on your puzzle-solving skills. But this is also a tech-demo showcase; packed with new game mechanics for next generation virtual reality games.

The game is available for Mac OS X and Windows (compatible with regular monitors as well).

Happy holidays everyone!
Thanks to all who've supported us by buying the game so far - and for all the great feedback. You can be sure that you haven't heard the last of us and we look forward to sharing more experiences with you in the near future!

A little late to the party here (works meant my VR stuff has had to take a backseat) but WOW. This is easily one of my favourite VR experiences yet. The VR mechanics (the nodding, breaking eye contact during a conversation, the in world hint system), playing to the oculus' strengths (and gracefully getting around its weaknesses), the art style, the pacing and the storytelling were all top notch.

I also loved the credit sequence - really lovely touch.

Trial of the Rift Drifter was a really promising start but you guys have really stepped it up with this. Great job, really excited to see where you go next.

You should also include an option to pay via Moneybookers (aka Skrill) in the future. That's how I pay for my Skype Credit, Steam purchases and other things.

Excellent immersive VR adventure. Being shot is something I will never forget, that got me jumping like never before. The extras part is a nice touch. The shore with nightsky is something I can easily fall asleep to 8-)

Hi there, I'm trying to download for Mac OS X but it says the "Merchant account is not verified"

Let me know when you're back up and running, would love to try! Thanks

That was weird. It was some kind of a bug with our third party service. Resolved now!

Thanks for purchasing Asunder and for taking the time to write this awesome feedback! We're really glad you enjoyed it. Our agenda is definitely to improve our games and techniques in every new project we create. We've still got a lot of features that we're experimenting, VR offers so much potential for new gameplay mechanics. So in a way we're still just getting started with lots more to come! 🙂

We're in the middle of planning our next project and hope to make some announcements in the coming months.

I purchased the game last night and am very excited to finish it however I'm having frame rate issues. [...] I'm wondering if it's because I'm duplicating the screen. It's just weird because it's super smooth for the first 2-3 scenes but as soon as I get in the plane it is very choppy and unplayable. My system is more than adequate to handle it. i7 extreme 12gb ram windows 8 and the Radeon 6990...

Thank you and I'm looking forward to experiencing this awesome VR experience. The beginning sucked me in!:)

Thanks for purchasing the game! We're sorry to hear you're having these troubles and will do our best to get it resolved for you. First off, here are a couple of things you can try out immediately:

  • The duplicated/multiple displays are possibly causing trouble here. Try running the game with only the Rift connected/mirrored screen.

  • Make sure you are running the game in the recommended 1280x800 resolution.

Please see if these suggestions help with the lag and let us know if there's any change. Have you had any troubles at all like this when running another graphics-rich Rift game, e.g. Airworld from Cloudhead?

I managed to finish the game but I have severe framerate issues as well. I run my Rift as a secondary display in extended desktop mode on Windows 8.1 and usually run games on it at the native resolution. I have a Quad core i7 with 8gb RAM and 2xRadeon 7970 in Crossfire. (I disable Crossfire for Rift games as it adds latency, though).

I don't have any performance issues with anything else. At all. Rift games or not. The Gallery ES demo included.

Weird huh? Ah the joys of PC gaming! 😄

Ach. Sorry to hear. There's one thing you could try: Some graphics cards seem to be clashing with the game's OpenGL rendering. If you go into /Data and launch the exe file directly from there, rather than the shortcut launcher in the root directory, it will allow you to bypass OpenGL rendering. Could you try that and see if it has an effect?
