Australia shafted again thanks to 1.4 and AUD prices on Oculus Home

So not only are we the last to get the Oculus Rift, but to rub salt in the wound and with the implementation of local currency within Oculus Home we are now paying more for games as well!  This is getting beyond a joke.

Hmm, yeah, prices seem a bit bumped up for us. For example, The Climb is $49.99us from what I can see, that should convert to $69.1549au. But instead we are being charged $79.99au.

(I blame Namco Bandai. Doesn't matter if the games have nothing to do with them, I just blame them for any overpriced australian game)

Your not alone mate, in the UK its the same. The example I just gave in the announcement thread is that Chronos used to cost $49.99 = £34.25 and now costs £39.99 which is about a 15% increase. Its always the same here especially with online digital market places. At least with most market places you can buy top up cards like for Xbox live which can usually be bought for about 80% face value but I cant see that being the case for Oculus Home for some time, if ever.

oculus seem desperate to push people over to steam!!!!  sure exclusives i may not have much choice (aside from VPN) but lets face it, most games are on steam as well.
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR 🙂

@Zandil looks like it, I tried it yesterday with chronos and it worked, was only charged the $49.99 but I would rather the prices were just consistent. Surely if the cost in USD is equivalent to £34.25 the logical pricing would be £34.99 which I would have just paid in GBP.

@bigmike20vt You're right at the moment if you can buy a game on both platforms and still be able to use properly Oculus is not really giving any reason to buy from them. Its been pointed out that the pricing is similar on Steam where you are charged more paying in GBP than USD but at least you can buy Steam Wallet credit for about 90% which helps reduce the difference and as you have mentioned before if you switch or have both headsets you can use on both.

Im not sure about AUD but I buy Steam Wallet credit from somewhere like cdkeys.com, at the moment I can buy £20 for £18.90 + if you go on there facebook page you can get an extra 5% off by liking the page and putting an email address in so it works out just under 90% face value.

I think he was asking about how you get to get the steam wallet credit at 90% face value, paypal you would need to pay the full price.
