It's my pleasure to introduce you to a small side project of mine entitled "Body of the Night".
I will unleash it for Halloween for free and I`d like to invite you to my webpage http://www.bodyofthenight.com to get a better idea of what it`s all about.
This project was born out of a passion for VR, short films and horror anthologies. It`s not a game, there is no winning or losing. There are also no inputs other than the HMD. Call it an experiment in VR storytelling. It is similar in format to a few demos you may have played for the Oculus but I think this one has quite a different TWIST to it.
I`m still putting the finishing touches on it, so I may not be around much to follow up on my post here but I will post back once my teaser is up.
It was captured with the DK1 (the project's native format) and I'm currently working on the DK2 integration to get the visuals clean and the build running smoothly. Obviously it ain't EASY. 😃
Since there is a whole host of image effects on my cameras and I rely alot on shadows, I've been having a tough time adjusting to the DK2 so I might only launch the DK2 version after the DK1.
I've made some good progress so far so here's hoping that I drop the DK1 AND DK2 into your candy bags this Halloween... then again, when someone unexpectedly gives you a whole candy bar, can't really complain that there aren't two of them right? =P
For you who have not tried it, it's a 5 minute short film or rather a short "machinimatic" film so talking about it, would be like talking about a film; very easy to spoil.
I was having that debate with myself: Should the logo screen go away automatically or not? Most people I had try it early stay there for a long time just turning around and enjoying the effect. Eventually you get the point.
Right, I don't know why I didn't expect this to be a problem but my DK2 version troubles are probably related to my machine being a dinosaur toaster...
1)Unity Shadows(FWD) vs Transparent Objects Z-Fighting. 2)FadeInOut script no longer functional. 3)An unusual darkness in the scenes(I mean even DARKER than in the original version).
