Indie DB Article "Why we decided to go with the Oculus Rift"
http://www.indiedb.com/games/brunelleschi/news/why-we-decided-to-go-with-the-oculus-rift

Hello Oculus Devs and welcome to Brunelleschi: Age of Architects. We started our Oculus Development with an already built out Renaissance city building web game (in what we like to call Bootstrap Beta) and an existing Unity Beta client. In the Web game, players can found and build their own Settlements or move into an existing Settlement and help build it out. In the Unity client, players can simulate building their own cities with game mechanics or can load in a 3D simulation of their Web Game settlement with what assets the Unity Dev can make available. So far we have 4 Ranks of 20 districts total with over 70 building models, but this isn't even close to finished!

We were overjoyed when the DK2 arrived and we could begin Oculus development. It took about 2 weeks to make a working player model that switches movement and selection modes we and have just released an integrated Oculus client with our last client release. This Oculus client mimics almost all of our current PC client game mechanics adjusted for look and pointer select rather than mouse events and with 3d menus rather than stuck-to-the-screen GUIs.

We have incorporated Coherent UI web views into our PC client so players can play the game while playing the game, and we hope to eventually have interactive web views in the Oculus client as well. Currently we have static viewing rooms that show the log in page, but no log in is currently possible. (That we know of, ideas anyone?)

The Aesop Games team making Brunelleschi looks forward to working with the Oculus and the Dev community to perhaps eventually make Brune the City Building VR MMO we dream of.

Even though I'm Italian and I should know him very well, the only thing I remember about him is the name being mentioned in middle school 20+ years ago
I've been trying to download the 64 bit demo, but every time it says no mirrors available...

Sorry for the late reply! I forget to check social spaces when the work is so fun. ^_^'

Brunelleschi is a lot of fun to read up on. There was some serious architect / artist drama in the time period and he was right in the middle. Not to mention being so cool as to apply math to build a dome everyone said was impossible to build.

Sorry about that download. You probably tried to download too soon after we put it up, we've run into that problem before. We tested it on two computers and it seems to be working correctly now.

Also, if you're looking to try it out on an Oculus, the Oculus Full Demo 0.0.10 is an Oculus-enabled integration of most of the features in the PC client.

That said, I invite everyone to come check out the demos! I'm quite happy with the settlement integration. If you're looking for a settlement to simulate, I highly suggest checking out "Valethor" ruled by Timrath and managed actively. It is a very large settlement, so individual district rendering is advised. ^_^

Ok just tried it, there is no recenter key working, so ending up in the middle of the sofa it is unplayable, plus as far as I can tell it requires a Facebook/Twitter/Goolge account to play, so definitely a NONO.
