UPDATE :

I have just released a playable alpha test version of Combat Helicopter VR (with 4 playable test missions).

It can be downloaded from Oculus Share here : https://share.oculus.com/app/combat-helicopter-vr, or from here : http://www.vr-gameplay.com/downloads.html

Hopefully, it will be on Oculus Share soon.

Hope you enjoy it, comments and feedback greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Ben.

Updated with a new short trailer (for the released demo) on November 26th :

Hi all,

I just thought I would share one of my more developed VR game projects (I am developing several VR game ideas, but this one will most definitely be my first full release). The title is pretty descriptive, but it is probably worth mentioning that this is more of an arcade game experience (lots of shooting and explosions etc..), rather than a realistic simulation. That being said, the game will have a (hopefully) interesting mission based structure, rather an "endless waves of things to shoot at" type of game.

For those interested, I will release a playable demo in the (hopefully) not too distant future, so stay tuned.

All comments, criticisms, and suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks for reading and watching!

I'm refreshing this thread every couple of days, too. 🙂 I don't know why it didn't get more attention than it did. I think the project looks awesome!

Thanks for the enthusiasm, I really do appreciate it.

I am doing my best to create a really good first impression, so I have been holding off on the demo, until the project is quite far along in development. As said in another post, I am aiming for a playable demo in 2 -3 weeks.

Thanks again.

very cool, I missed this before. I love how the blades stir up dust when you're close to the ground - great effect!

Any chance of positional support via the Hydra strapped to your head? 🙂

OK, no promises for the first release, but I will try to find time to experiment with this (a friend has lent me his hydras to play around with). It will probably break a few things (the pilot body is not rigged yet for example etc..).

Teeny, tiny, nitpick.

When you're PIC (Pilot In Command) in a helicopter, you fly from the right seat, not the left. 😄

(and no, I have no clue why...)

Hi,

Thanks for your continued interest, and sorry for the late reply. Here is an updated video :

I have decided wait until I get my DK2, before releasing a demo. I probably wont do hydra position tracking, since DK2 will make that obsolete.

Ben.

PS - thanks for the right hand seat tip f15sim
